not many know but my pdoc of the last 7 years is aparently no longer in the biz . . .
I believe it maybe a legal issue with him and his ex-wife fighting . . .

but anyway I have my first visit with the new pdoc next Wed . . . at this point my

presenting issue is my anxiety and slight depression . . . due to not being sure if I

could get refills I took myself off all my meds . . . I have been totally med free for

several weeks ( and yes by and large it feels good) . . . but I know I need a pdoc

connection so to speak . . .

So . . . I plan on starting clean . .. no mention of bp or anything from the past . .
wish me luck . . . my first female pdoc and a new beginning . . . .

Sorry about your old Pdoc

If you don’t mention BP to new Pdoc how will you address sitting in her office needing to see her?

Be careful. To be less than forthcoming could be seen as being a non-cooperative, untruthful patient. That could get you dropped as a patient.

First session. Any good pdoc will ask you about your behaviours, and such, in the past. If you answer honestly s/he has a better chance of helping you. I don’t see any need to mention past diagnoses at this point. I really hope you can relax, and that the appointment goes well.

Oh yes you do have a cruise ship of anxiety. If you just lead with having anxieties and anxieties it might come across that your wanting a benzo. Since the Pdoc won’t know any of your history.

Because of the opioid epidemic now people are all up in arms to ban every benzo on the planet unless a Pdoc can document the reasons for prescribing

All the above I’m saying if your looking for one , also can you tolerate an AD, Bipolar wise. What if she tosses a random AD at you .. how will you handle it???

Are you against seeing her for a second opinion ?? Since your current Pdoc is gone now?

I’m just worried for your well being

I wish I could get off lithium. I'd love a new start but I don't have the courage to ask. I think it's important we all move forward with knowledge and a fresh perspective. There's a lot to be said for mindfulness and the awareness of our condition. I don't like being on lithium. It causes me to eat everything in sight (twice) and it makes me feel stupid. I'm not sure the side effects are worth it anymore. Good luck.

I defintely wish you good luck and I sure do understand your desire to start anew. I have to say, however, that I'm a bit confused. When your new pdoc takes your history won't your BP symptoms be obvious?

it's all good . . . I will answer any direct question honestly but I had been with my last pdoc from the hospital and he never let me forget that . . . . my issues have always been anexity which causes some depression . . . most bad times have been med caused or at least added to by them . . . I currently still have xanex left but am finding it really does nothing for me lately . . . I have been grinding my teeth for quite a while now with all the muscle tension that causes . . . work is ridding me about missing time for therapy sessions so that is becoming less and less doable . . . so next week we do anxeity and nothing but anxiety . . . thats the plan anyway . . .

If you only mention anxiety and depression, there is a possibility the new pdoc may only prescribe an antidepressant. If you have bipolar disorder, taking only an antidepressant could be risky. So your new pdoc might prescribe the wrong thing or prescribe something based on a certain amount of ignorance. If you become hypomanic or manic (or mixed), so it will be an "Oh! What do you know! Wiretwister has bipolar disorder!" That sounds innocent enough, but the reality could be a far far worse statement.

If you doubt the bipolar diagnosis, why are you reluctant to just flat out say that? You have the right to have a whole new psychiatric evaluation done. If you don't doubt the bipolar diagnosis, you then would apparently seem to want to just play games. Of course I know you're free to do that, but I agree with the poster who said it wouldn't likely be appreciated by that psychiatrist.
Thanks for this!

I agree with BirdDancer about meds.

Missing work for therapy appts is one thing but what if a Med causes you IP ?? How would that effect your job?

I just want you safe my friend
