Thank you so much, @bizi. I think I'm done with the SSRI's. They gave me a life for decades, but just haven't done much in my 50's. I think there are meds now to treat IBS that may have fewer side-effects. Then, too, I can just live with it, be careful of what I eat (no friend foods). Every woman in my family as far back as I know had/has IBS. My daughter has it terribly and now even my son has developed it in his 30's.
You are so kind. __________________ |

Meds:
200mg Lamictal 1200mg Gabapentin 25mg Seroquel for sleep 1mg/twice a day Klonopin The least amount of medication I've been on in many, many years and I feel much better. In addition, when I stopped the SSRI my blood pressure decreased way down into a very good range. What a difference! I am meeting my new GP soon and requesting a referral to a doctor at the clinic who specializes in helping people to get off of certain medications (such as Klonopin and, possibly for me, Gabapentin.) He also works with chronic pain issues. My goal is to eventually (as far as psych meds) take only Lamictal. (Perhaps I can even decrease the amount of Lamictal soon.) Coming off Klonopin may take a year - or even two. But the time for me to be free of it is long overdue. As for Seroquel, I find that there are OTC sleep meds that work as well as the low-dose Seroqeul does - at least, nearly as well. I would like to use those OTC's with Seroquel as an occasional back-up if I have a night that requires a solid, long sleep ( an event the next day). __________________ |

Glad you have cut back on your meds and are doing better. I'm down to to anti-depressants and one med for sleep.

Oh, yes...I've taken Cymbalta a couple of times in the past. Wellbutrin is so helpful for many, many people. I did take it for about a year, last year. I think if I ever need another AD I would go with Wellbutrin. __________________ |

Yeah, it has been great for me, but I find I also need something that works on serotonin.

I have definitely needed that in the past, for many, many years. And it worked, it helped. I now wonder if my receptors have built up such a tolerance that they no longer respond. __________________ |

I have heard that welbutrin was the safest anti depressant for us. That is if you don't take an AP. Lamictal is my only "anti depressant". It is my main stabilizer. I also take a small dose of haldol 5mg twice a day.
take care of yourself. and good luck tapering off of the klonipin. bizi __________________ lamictal 2x a day haldol 2x a day cogentin 2x a day klonipin , 1mg at night, fish oil coq10 multi vit,, vit c, at noon, tumeric, caffeine Remeron at night, zyprexa, requip2-4mg |

That IS a crazy amount of melatonin @bizi! Geez, 10mg is considered high - 5mg is the general recommendation.
I take melatonin now and then. I think it does help me sleep, but the stuff has a strange effect on me...gives me freaky dreams and sometimes I find myself tossing and turning and talking, as though I am "awake while asleep." Perhaps the melatonin reacts with other meds I take, I don't know. __________________ |
