Hey guys!

I've been having more stress than usual lately (just graduated) with psychotic symptoms. Needless to say it's exhausting, but I'm sure some of you can relate. My therapist nor my psychiatrist seem to understand how scary it is and how much it takes up my life.

Any tips on managing this?

Thanks!

Huh. Well, I must say, as someone who deals with psychotic concerns daily, I am quite bothered by your rermark about your providers. If they are not engaged with you on this set of issues, I am not really sure what it is they think they are doing for a living.

Psychosis is, by definition, a fear-producing state. The threat assessment systems is not functioning properly. So, anxiety becomes its own set of consequent concerns. Ultimately, the best approach in my opinion, is directly addressing the psychosis. Once some headway is made there, that fear and anxiety will abate. It will. Absolutely, it will.

So, the question then becomes , what is the best approach for your psychosis? What is your AP regimen? I have found that med changes are sometimes required in order to stay ahead of all this. Abilify at the highest dose does nothing for me anymore. Trilfaon has helped a lot at 3 mg tid. Thorazine did nothing. Zyprexa did nothing, unless the dose was pushed, but then, I get horrible akathesia and freak out all the time. So, for now, the Trilafon is doing it.

Hang in there. It will get better, but not if the folks "caring" for you do not seem to care.

Call your psychiatrist. Med adjustment needed.
