Do you think that you are creative or talented? If so please give one example.

Love to all

Dear Fuzzybear,

Since I suffer unipolar rather than bipolar depression, I guess I cannot really respond to this post. I hope you get many responses though. I have always thought of "creativity" as constituting a wide range such that no one is completely devoid of some creativity and others seem to have more than others, relatively speaking. I don't know.

Sincerely yours, Yao Wen

Yes. I used to design lasers and I would come up with this completely wacky ideas that were often met with blank stares or open derision by my coworkers: "Here goes Cyclist again..."

So funny. But, they usually worked out to be somewhat unique and original, all totally appropriate humility aside. Sold a few billion dollars worth of those totally insane ideas, if we do say so ourselves...

No, I do not believe I am creative or talented. I am more of a "jack of all trades, master of none" kind of person when it comes to projects, work, etc.. For instance, I typically have to ask other people at work for creative ideas on how to tackle certain problems.

In addition to the above, I do not find myself to be creative or talented even when manic. I may *think* I am particularly talented at something when manic, but that is just mania talking.

Hey, blue--does not your job require some creativity? I thought it did...

Yes, I am a creative person. When manic I'm so sensitive to colors and sounds that my world is psychedelic. So, creative in what ways? Many types of visual art. I was a graphic artist way back...I worked by hand (prior to computers), illustration and hand-lettering. I have had poetry published in some reputable journals. So, yeah...just creative in all sorts of fun ways, especially having to do with color, sound, words.

One sadness I feel about medication is that it definitely dampens my creativity. I feel pretty smushed on meds. It's difficult for one idea to connect to the next idea. I feel eternally sleepy.

Well, I came up with the mininvan when I was a kid. Of course, being in 5th grade (1978-79) mine was armored. And I was farther ahead of the automobile industry than that suggests. Mine had two captain's chairs and one or two bench seats. I can't remember which.

Yes. To both. Art of many types, design, color use and duplication, arranging, whether it be colors, furniture or putting together an outfit (a true original, lol), finding ways to use what is at hand to make things. On and on. It is part and parcel of SOOOO many situations. I can't separate it from who I am.

I'm not sure if I'm talented, but I studied music. I also love writing, sometimes I draw… Yes, I can say that I'm creative.
