Hello all!

I have been having these waves of depression that last several days. I think it is due to my sleeping habits. When I get to bed too late, or not tired enough, I do not sleep well. I wonder if this is the reason?

I try to ride the wave like a duck does waves on the lake. I try to keep a positive attitude, understanding that what I am going through has nothing to do with what is happening around me. There’s nothing bad happening around me. I try to keep myself busy, but that is difficult. What coping skills can you suggest?

Hey buddy

Well I'd bet money on it being due to your sleep being off. You know sleep is one of the most important things needed to stay stable.

Do you know why your staying up late? Online lose track of time?? Shopping? binge watching stuff?

Are you getting out daily to take your dog out on a long walk so it will help you feel tired ???

I say first off herd your sleep ducks into a better row

Hello ~Christina!

I have started going to bed at 10 PM. Now it is paying off. It was much easier to get up in the morning. This morning it was at 5:30 AM. This was still easier than getting up at 8 AM in the past few days. So I will keep doing this and see what happens. My goal is a solid seven hours sleep.

I recently have been walking my dog more. My goal is once a day, during the evening when it is cooler outside. Some days I don’t get home from work until 9 PM. So that does not give me much of a window to get ready for bed, and also walk the dog. But I guess any length of walking the dog helps. I am also starting to run short distances with the dog. My dog is really out of shape too.

I generally sleep poorly when I go bed too late and then the next day, I struggle, which is a downer for me.

I try to practice "sleep hygiene", including keeping a consistent bedtime that is not too late.

Good sleep!

I agree with regard to the sleep assertion. The later I go to bed, the less quality sleep I experience. Less sleep tends to make me feel depressed.
