Found a bunch of emails I guess I sent me. Scared.

You wrote emails to yourself?

I know that is scary. What has helped in the past?

I know how scary it can be, bpcyclist. I went through a period when dissociation was a significant issue for me. I had depersonalization, derealization, occasional dissociative hallucinations and occasional fragmentary blackouts. At that time, the latter was likely dissociative rather than psychotic, for me.

I think Fuzzy's suggestion is excellent. Grounding techniques helped me a lot (mental and physical types). Another thought I have since you specifically mentioned emails, is to do "self checks" a few times a day (meaning 3, not many more - that could be unhealthy, I think). Check your "Sent" folder and see what the times and content were. Try to put them together with other actions. For example, according to Psych Central, you posted this thread today at 10:36 AM US East Coast time. I believe that was 7:36 AM on the West Coast. Did you send an email to anyone at about that time? Can you put that in a timeline with posting this thread? How were you feeling then. Basically, can you identify some possible triggers that may have caused the amnesia?

I wish I had some helpful words. I struggle with dissociation myself, especially derealization...the bane of my existence.

I find that physical grounding tends to help some. For example, progressive muscle relaxation while breathing well. Being in the body is, I find, more grounding than being all in the mind.
