I have PTSD in addition to Bipolar I, what medications have worked to treat your anxiety associated with PTSD? I'm currently looking for a therapist as well.

Medication that did not help and made things worse were ADs and benzos the ptsd mostly didn’t respond to any meds but therapy helped. The bipolar was helped with APs. And mood stabilizer

I agree with Nammu. The meds didn't help the PTSD but therapy did/does. Meds did help the bipolar and therapy also helps it.

I have BD1 and am diagnosed with complex PTSD. Meds help the BD a great deal, but unfortunately I've yet to find a medication that really combats anxiety, especially anxiety due to PTSD. Like Nammu and Rainbow have said, therapy is most effective for helping with anxiety.

There is a blood pressure med called prazosin that can help with PTSD nightmares. I don't know how effective it is. I know one person who was on another blood pressure med, Tenex, for the same reason.

Mostly though, it's therapy that helps the nightmares stop after dealing with the root cause.

I take clonzapam for the anxiety. One a day plus when needed. It doesn’t help with ptsd as been talked about before, but therapy helps

Thank you all. I'm on good meds for Bipolar I but my PTSD is severe. Therapists are backlogged here and I am on a waiting list. My psychiatrist is helping me find someone as well. I was in therapy for a long time, I just need to get back into it. I do hate to dredge things back up but I know it is necessary.
