Has anyone tried this or something similar? I apologize if I posted something like this before, I can't remember if I posted it on this forum. Also, I hope it's alright that I am starting a couple of threads. I usually try not to start too many ,but people said they are interested so I figured why not.

According to NAMI:
"IPSRT is an individual therapy in which the person with BD keeps daily records of their bed times, wake times, and activities, and the effects of changes in these routines on their moods. The clinician coaches the person on how to regulate their daily routines and sleep-wake cycles as a way to stabilize moods. The person and his/her therapist identify one or more interpersonal problem areas (e.g., conflicts with coworkers; difficulty sustaining friendships) and discuss potential solutions to prevent similar problems from emerging in the future. " Different Types of Therapy for Bipolar Disorder | NAMI: National Alliance on Mental Illness

I think this could be useful for me, although it seems hard to find someone that does this when I did a search.

I am wondering if anyone has tried this, or, have you tried any other therapy specific to bipolar or mood disorders?
Thanks for this!

I think that’s why people said “get a job” when I was on disability, work does that for you.
Thanks for this!

I haven't done anything as detailed as IPSRT. The most I've done was mood charts (which turned out to be more helpful than I'd expected). It sounds like a really good program, though. That whole page is helpful.

I have never formally received IPRST, but it clearly has merit for people with bipolar disorder. I certainly know firsthand the benefits of sleep and other types of routine. The interpersonal aspect is something I'd like to explore more. Perhaps I'll ask my new therapist to work on that with me. However, I don't currently work, but know work and interpersonal relationships at past jobs have been triggers for my episodes, or at least exacerbated them.

I don't know how I feel about IPSRT yet. It's been proposed to me but somehow it seems kind of backwards. I'm a creature of habit by nature. I always tend to go to bed at the same time, eat at the same time, etc. A major part of the problem when I'm depressed is that I can't sleep and don't have the energy to hold on to my routines. To me it seems that it's not the disruption of routines that causes the depression, but the other way around. It kind of irks me when people then tell me things like "make sure to get enough sleep." Well no ****, what do you think I've been trying to do? I can see how forcing yourself to stick to routines can be helpful to prevent mood episodes, and maybe even in case of incipient or mild depression, but I don't see how this approach can help when you're already severely depressed. Maybe someone can enlighten me if I'm seeing this incorrectly?

i have never heard of this kind of therapy before so unfortunately i can't really Help, Sorry, but thank you for sharing it nonetheless! i agree with the other wise and wonderful posters about thanking you for this. Perhaps you could ask for more information to your doctors and/or therapist? i know that is not the same thing but it is worth giving it a try perhaps. Hope you will find what you're looking for! Sending many safe, warm hugs to BOTH you, @yellow_fleurs, your Family, your Friends and ALL of your Loved Ones! Keep fighting and keep rocking NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, OK?!
Thanks for this!

IPSRT was developed at the flagship psychiatric institute in my city, so it's very popular here. I've never had formal, long-term IPSRT with an in-person therapist, but I did participate in a study a few years ago where I tried out computer-based IPSRT. I found it very helpful!

Thanks everyone for the responses! HopeforChange that is really interesting! What is computer-based IPSRT? Is that something that was just available for the study?
