My pdoc and I go back and forth about whether or not I have bipolar 1 or SZA. I have had some pretty intense periods of psychosis - sometimes at home, sometimes in public- intrusive thoughts, delusions, hallucinations, overwhelming feelings of "too much", etc. All of these things combine to make an experience not unlike what is shown in the 2nd and 3rd videos in this

BEFORE YOU CLICK ON IT, let me just put up a big TRIGGER WARNING!

At least, it was triggering to me. I've had episodes a lot like what are shown here. The paranoia, the intrusive thoughts, the hallucinations, command voices, feeling overwhelmed by my environment...

After seeing this, I'm pretty sure I have schizoaffective Disorder. I still have depression and mania, to be sure. But this video clicked with me.

Thanks for posting the video. It was so interesting and educational. One thing that I found confusing was, take the third video, was the guy hearing the voice inside of his mind? Or was the voice coming from outside?

The host and one of the people in the videos mentioned intrusive thoughts. Maybe that's hearing voices inside your mind?

Yeah, that's how I took it. I hate intrusive thoughts, they really scare me.

Oh, Moose, what a rabbit hole you sent me down. I really liked the way she presented her vid, then I went looking for vids on bipolar disorder. When I looked up from the screen hours had passed.

I have searched youtube for videos on BD, but haven't found any that are outstanding. If anyone has a link to a good one, please post it.

I have found some good docs and a movie or 2 on Amazon Prime.

I just kicked off another thread so as to not hijack this one on schizoaffective.

Thanks for sharing.

(OT) I'm currently reading ''the divided self''... its quite heavy for me but interesting.

I personally would recommend this before listening to and believing reductive ''interpretations'' or being put on ''depot meds''.... that is JUST my opinion

What are "depot meds"? I saw the thread with that title and I didn't understand it.

I just saw that video a week or two ago! I think the simulations do an okay job, but don’t really capture the whole picture. They cover hallucinations and paranoia but schizoaffective/schizophrenia is so much more than that.
I am glad that there are channels like the Living Well With Schizophrenia channel to explain to those curious about the disorder what it’s like as well as help those struggling.

Depot meds are the same as the tablet form just given in injections and released slowly over a longer period of time. Usually when you get a depot shot you’re on the pill form for a few weeks before the first shot or longer so you know you’re not going to have a bad reaction.
