Has anyone made a Happy Box or something similar who can advise me on what to do? Occupational Therapist mentioned another word for it but I can't remember what it was. In my head though I thought Happy Box?

Any thoughts on what I can include in a box to make me feel better, happier etc i already do a scrap book with concert tickets and cinema tickets in it.

Any advice would be appreciated thank you!

I've never made a Happy Box, but I love that idea! The first thing I can think of is writing out a few helpful affirmations and put them in the box. Maybe a small object (unless your Happy Box is really big!) that you still have from childhood. A photo of someone your love, whether human or animal. An object to represent something that you do in your life, something you enjoy...such as a pen if you like to write, or a colored pencil if you like to do art.

However you create your Happy Box I'm sure it'll be really special.

I called mine a coping box when I had it but happy box sounds nice I would put things like a photo of someone I care about or beloved pet. A chocolate bar. Aromatherapy lotion. Coping cards, like a deck of cards that each have a different coping skill or statement (you can find them on amazon or make your own), a worry stone or other sensory/fidget objects, maybe an mp3 player with relaxing music, a stuffed animal, soft blanket, a card from a supportive person. I love making these, I haven't had one in awhile but I should definitely make one again, it would be good for my panic attacks.

I heard about that. I personally never put one together because the times when I need it, my mind would twist happy moments and sentiments into something depressing and negative. I could see enjoying it when my mood is up.

at blue_bird, I have never heard of a worry stone- but I am guessing it's a stone you hold in your hand when you are worried?

as for the original question, what about 1 item for each of the senses?

smell- maybe something like a little bottle of perfume with a smell that you like.

touch- something that feels nice for you (I like card for some reason, like credit card material)

see- a nice picture (either one you have at home, or draw something you like)

taste- some chocolate, some other candy

and hear- either an MP3 player, or something that makes a comforting noise

you could also add a couple items that are associated with your home town or country

like if you find a little flag or something
Thanks for this!

I would put something for all the senses in mine, including a picture like this maybe

"Happy Box"?

I do not know if you like teddy bears but if you do, a tiny teddy might be a cute (and possibly comforting) addition to the ''happy box''

I spoke to the OT today she recommends I do it. Its called a Self Soothing Box. I have started getting things off of Amazon. I have a small Teddy I've had since I was 2 years old. Will add it in to the box
