Yes, many times every hour. Medication doesn't seem to help much (if at all). I'm working on CBT skills with my therapist. CBT and breath work is as helpful as anything I've tried. Reading is also helpful.

I have found that only focusing on lots of work or being really engaged in conversations helps.

Yes I ruminate every day on the past. I se the DBT skill of mindfulness to focus on the present instead of constantly venturing into my past.

Sorry to hear you're struggling. Do your Pdoc and/or therapist know abotu this? If they don't perhaps this is something worth discussing with them. Sending many safe, warm hugs to BOTH you, @pat86, your Family, your Friends and ALL of your Loved Ones! Keep fighting and keep rocking NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, OK?! :Grouphug:

I ruminate a lot, too, it’s horrible. I’ve read about a method of dealing with bad thoughts where you acknowledge it but then let it go. Maybe it works for some, but I think your mileage may vary.

Yeah I feel it requires something more strong and powerful then basic therapy or other similar methods

This helps me a bit sometimes too, I have a guided meditation which I used to listen to which uses this method.

Sometimes this method might help

GIGO

It stands for

GARBAGE in

GARBAGE out

It can be quite powerful if the thoughts are untrue, and if some of them were programmed into someone by abusive individuals. What these individuals spout is simply garbage and venom (all abusers spout garbage and venom).. it can be hard at times for the ''emotional self'' (or whatever it is called) to feel this. The logical brain knows it... but to feel it inside is not always so easy.

I ruminate on past BP episodes. It's tough not to. But I do feel better if I can try to stay in the present.
