My whole therapy session today, I felt as though my psychiatrist was listening in on our session. I couldn’t get up the nerve to ask my therapist but I chose my words wisely when I spoke of them. Can your therapist have your Psychiatrist listen in on you without you knowing it?

I feel a little awkward about eavesdropping in teletherapy sessions too, but your psychiatrist is not likely to have listened to the session without being able to bill. They were certainly off doing other billable things. I’m

No. Without your permission having anyone (including your pdoc) listen in on the session would be a breach of confidentiality. And like busymom pointed out, your pdoc would want to be paid for her time.

I agree with busymom and Beth. Without your permission, a law is being broken. Without money, your pdoc wouldn't listen in!

It makes sense. Especially considering the psychiatrist spends exactly 15 minutes with me. Even if this means he has to cut me off or not address something. I’m just paranoid because I put a negative review online about him. I already dreaded seeing him before this.

I read the title as "eyedropper" not evesdropper, and I clicked because - yeah, these zoom meetings hurt my eyes too. and I was hoping for eyedrop recs....oh well.
But yeah, I agree with others - Pdocs don't do a damn thing without getting paid . |

i agree with the other wise and wonderful poster. if that happened it would be a break of confidentiality and i think it would be illegal so Hopefully that isn't happening. If you do find out i think it is your right to report it. Sending many Safe, warm hugs to BOTH you, @Bipolarchic14, your Family, your Friends and ALL of your Loved Ones! Keep fighting and keep rocking NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, OK?!

Actually I had to sign something that said that my therapist and my psychiatrist could speak. I don’t know if that would give them permission to eavesdrop or not. But I definitely do agree with the practical side of this and that one I’m sure they’re super busy and don’t have time to even do that and two it would be a waste of their resources in terms of getting paid. There was no doubt that they were going to get paid there was no issue with anybody getting paid I asked about paying out of pocket while I get my insurance squared away and he completely disregarded what I was saying. It’s bad enough looking for a job. Having to do so without being properly medicated just makes it that much worse.

A lot of stress. I'm sorry.
I am positive that your T wouldn't allow anyone else in the session (even to observe it) without your knowledge. To do so would be highly unethical. If you are still concerned, though, I'd definitely tell your therapist. You certainly have the right to feel 100% safe during session. __________________ |
