In absence of a new question I'll say that I would love to be able to compete on the show Jeopardy. However, I think the stress of such exposure would be hard on me. I might look too anxious and maybe have poor recall as a result. But I am pretty good at the game. Not mega champ level, but likely better than most people. I have a good knowledge of many things with just some exceptions. I am also very good at naming bands or composers after only a few notes played. I wow my husband with that.

What board or other type of game (including card games) are you fairly good at?

I’m just so-so at board games but love playing games. Long ago when I lived in the twin cities I had a game night once a month. We even played the Barbie date dame which I found at a thrift store! Ha it was a fun night. We mostly played a trivia game where you collected triangles for a circle.

Did you ever throw a game night for friends or family?

We have game night when my nieces stay for the weekend. Usually we place apples to apples (love that game) and sometimes other games.

Do you feel like a control freak about things in your life?

No, that's not really my way. Though I wouldn't call my husband one, he does tend to make more decisions than I do. However, he doesn't reject suggestions or feedback and I do sometimes come up with major ideas that are followed through with. I am an idea person. So is Hubby. Occasionally I feel a little rebellious when he's a bit stubborn, but not often. We both generally have a laissez-faire attitude towards life.

How old were you when you first started feeling independent from your parents?

16 when I was able to take care of my dying grandmother at night and after school.

What is your favorite fruit?

When I’m in the mood for it, sure. It makes a nice change.

Do you like getting up in the morning or are you a night person?

Though not fluent, I speak intermediate level French, used to speak intermediate Mandarin Chinese (lost a lot for various reasons), and can understand some basic elementary Czech. I know little bits of German, but only what I retained from just one semester college German studies and bits spoken by Hubby's family. As for some other languages, a few phrases here and there from travel. English is obviously my native language.

Do you have a somewhat recent "immigrant" relative? If so, when did they arrive in the country?

A: Mein Urgroßvater ist aus Deutschland gekommen. (My Great-Grandfather came from Germany). He arrived here in the early 1910s.

Q: Is there any special place/thing that you go to/use when you are needing to relax?

I cuddle up in bed with my weighted blanket.

What is the last thing you ate?

I just finished a baked potato with bacon bits, sour cream and chives and a can of V8

If you could pick any decade in history which time period would you prefer to live in?

They all have their positive and negative aspects. Maybe the 1920s, but without the eventual stock market crash. Or if it has to be more recent, the 1970s only because a family could more possibly live on just one salary back then. Of course I'd still like to be an adult vs. a child.

If you're willing to share, what was the sickest you have ever been (physically or mentally)?

When I was 11 years old I had scarlet fever. I was so violently ill I was literally delirious. I was too sick to be afraid or to think...the illness was my entire world.

Of all the sitcoms you've ever watched, which is your favorite?

Ohhhhh must I pick just one? Mash? Big Bang Theory ? Daria? **** Van Dyke? Mary Tylor Moore Show? Waiting For God? Golden Girls? Too many to choose from. But those are my favorite.

What’s your favorite drama?

I'll ask someone else to also answer this, especially if they've lived alone in the past/present. However, it got me thinking that I have never truly lived alone any of my 50 plus years. In my youth, I had times where I had a private room in a shared apartment/house, but that doesn't quite qualify. Maybe a brief time in a private hostel/hotel room while traveling alone. I suppose my answer would be to keep things simple. I'm a real Henry David Thoreau type, unlike my husband. More on my own I could save good money even with a low income. With Hubby, not so much with a much larger one. I used to hate complexities in life. With him, a lot is complex. If I am ever "the last one standing" in my relationship, my life will be simplified. Stuff gotten rid of.

Q: Please also answer Polibeth's question above.

I guess mine would be just to keep busy and to keep active, fill every moment of your day

I often find it surprising (still very surprising) how a lot of issues come to the surface when I'm not doing anything or keeping my mind busy, and with no one to talk too, it's not great
what time do you usually go to sleep at night

I watch Colbert and then Seth’s monolog. So it’s usually almost midnight. But on weeks when there’s repeats I go to bed around 11pm. After I go to bed I read for a half hour or so and turn the lights off.

Do you have a bedtime routine?
