I woke up last night & stayed awake & I feel the same as when I sleep until early morning. I don't know when I fell asleep last night, so maybe I got the same amount of sleep, about 3 hours at best. Anyway, I'll be so glad when I finally regain my good sleep cycle of about 5 years ago. I pray for that.

Yay Nammu !! So happy you slept!

Dawn I’m sorry your sleep is so brief does your sleep or lack of it come during certain times of the year ?

I had broken sleep so altho I got some I feel like I didn’t.

I truly believe if a person with Bipolar got good deep sleep every night our Bipolar would be much more manageable.

Sleepy tea all the way around

Thank you, Christina. I do feel more depressed & anxious during the winter & more uplifted during Spring & Summer. I'm not bipolar. More like schizoaffective, depressive type. My sleep problems are causing a lot of difficulty for me lately. I'm pretty sure much of my mental illness would be fairly mild if I could get some healthy sleep. Thank you for this thread, Christina! And I hope you're doing better.

I am on a good schedule so I take my melatonin at 4PM. Then I am normally asleep by 7. I woke up at midnight last night. I was anxious so I took a 10mil melatonin and a valium. I'm just now realizing that may not have been the best combination. But anyways I got back to sleep right away until 4. So I slept pretty good. It seems I've had more good nights then bad nights lately.

I fell asleep at 7. I woke up about 10 minutes ago. I took 30mil of melatonin at 4 and then another 10mil at 6:30. I was having a lot of weird sleep paralysis nightmares which I haven't gotten in 2 years. I hope it was just the melatonin but I know being on those meds stopped all those night terrors and sleep paralysis dreams for 2 years straight and I hope they aren't coming back now.

Yes winter has a way of really hitting everyone. My husband has garden variety depression and his med works well but in the winter it’s often difficult for him. I don’t know many people that do okay year round mental illness or not.

I’m glad you find this thread helpful/comforting It’s a good place to pop on and at least not feel alone in the joy of insomnia !

I've been up since about 12:30. I fell asleep at 7. I got about 10 minutes of sleep around 3:30. Its just nerves about today masking itself as anxiety about other things I think.

I fell asleep at 7. I woke up at 10:30. Then I got back to sleep around midnight. I woke up at 1:50. Then I got confused and I think it was at 3 when I drifted off for a few minutes. Anyways that was only for about 10 minutes. But then I took my AM meds at 4:15 and got back to sleep until 6:15. So I got enough sleep there was just a lot of waking up going on.

I didn't sleep well last night and that should be a good thing considering I'm supposed to work overnight this week, but I feel agitated and angry.

I’m so sorry. Have you worked overnight shifts before.

Generally it’s hard for people with Bipolar to work those hours but I worked 6pm to 6am and honestly it was better for me than day shift. I just generally feel better at night.

I fell asleep at 7 and I had bad anxiety that woke me up at both 8 something and 10 something. Finally around 1 I said F it and I took my morning meds including a geodon and got back to sleep and slept in very late until 6:30. And I feel fine now.

I fell asleep at 7 with white noise. I woke up at 1. I turned on my music and I've been up since. My house is freezing I assume because of the furnace situation. I have my 3 blankets and my weighted blanket plus a hoodie on and my fingers are frozen. I'm dreading getting into the shower. I may just try to get dressed in the shower. At least put my shirt and hoodie on and see if that will work. I'm nervous about my doctors appointment today but thats to be expected and probably why I didn't sleep the greatest.

I am up and sitting on the recliner in the family room and I think our heat officially crapped out on us but at least it was in 40 degree weather and not in -10 degree weather.

Still doing naps for sleeping, but always with dreams, & I wake up being slow to realize they were just dreams, & it feels so strange & sometimes disappointing that those experiences didn't really happen.

Even with being up since 1 it was still almost 8 before I fell asleep. I think I need to give my mom my melatonin like I did with my other meds because I've been taking 40mil a night now and that can't be good. Anyways once I fell asleep I pretty much stayed asleep until 4. I am a bit worn out today but not because I didn't sleep good.

I fell asleep kind of fast at 7. I woke up at 10 but was up for less then an hour. I woke up at 2 but again was up for less then an hour. I woke up for a bit awhile ago and dozed off some more. My headphones are really starting to go out and at some points I can't hear the music at all and thats when I fall asleep. I got a lot of sleep though.

Rough night. Last night I tried to talk to Papa bear when he was watching TV, mistake. It's not his fault (I think he may have high functioning ASD and when he is tired he has issues communicating) It made me quite depressed though as I hardly said anything. I was already ''coping'' with severe depression and anxiety....Again, not his fault. I resisted taking more benzos for sleep. The prescribed dose is too low. I got a few hours of sleep...
