I’m very, very lucky that way. My cat waits until he knows I’m not sleeping anymore to jump on me and let me know his dish is empty. I’m not sure how he knows but he does.

You are lucky. A couple of mine wake me up, the other 3 don't - unless I'm sleeping really late. Then they all walk around and on me. I think they're afraid I've died, lol. __________________ |

Took the 25mg Seroquel. It helped so-so. Pretty well, I guess. I'm seeing the new med provider on Tuesday and I'm going to really stress sleep need to him. Although I honestly don't know what else can be done. But, maybe he'll have some ideas.

Honestly except for the times I was hospitalized with other bipolar I never knew how hard sleep was for most bipolars until I came on this site. I used to think it was me that was the problem, but now I know it’s bipolar. Psychiatrists seem to underestimate what a huge problem this is.

They sure do! Sleep is so, so, so important. When I'm sleep deprived not only does my mental state start to collapse, but I have physical issues...stomach upset, aching all over my body, painful eyes. Frankly, I find that psychiatrists underestimate a lot of things. It seems their primary goal is how well we get along with other people, how well we "function in society." __________________ |

I fell asleep at 7. I woke up right about 1. I stayed up until 4:30 maybe when I fell asleep in the middle of a podcast. I woke up at 5:45 feeling fine anxiety wise but breathing hard and short of breath. I was under my bamboo blanket and then 22 pounds of weighted blankets pulled up to my shoulders which is too much weight for how much I weigh. But I sure did sleep deeply for another hour or so and I feel pretty good.

I'm not bipolar but I understand what you, Nammu & Beth, are saying. I have voices & nobody understands that unless they have voices! Also, I am very sleep deprived, mostly because of the voices, & that is causing other mental illness symptoms. I think my depression would go away if I could have enough rest & good sleep.

I fell asleep frustrated but, quickly before 7. My leg pain kept waking me up off and on throughout the night but I managed to keep getting back to sleep with the help of my podcast and my music. I got out of bed at 6 to to take a shower. My mom sent a text late for me at least at 8:16 while I was deeply asleep asking if I was awake. I wonder what that was all about.

Some part(s) of me doesn't want to sleep. Oddly, there is this glad feeling, like when a kid doesn't want to go to sleep. But this other part of me is begging for sleep. Is it me that is causing this?

I usually don't have a problem falling asleep in the evening unless someone throws me a stress bomb around that time. On average I usually only sleep 5 hours. I will try and get up and do something. Being up at that time is kind of cool because it is peaceful and quiet. I will try and go for a bike ride when it gets daylight and really push myself and then come home and after a while try and take a nap for an hour or so before it starts to get too warm.

No, I don't believe it's you. My experience is that there's this "thing" that happens when we cannot sleep. You've described it so well - like a kid who gets to stay up late. The kid's thoughts are excited - but the kid's body is compromised from lack of sleep. Our thoughts tell us that we're in control of our sleep, that if we really wanted to we would sleep. So there's a kind-of elation feeling...Wow - I can stay up as long as I want!...but I believe that the truth is our brains really are malfunctioning, and that we desperately need to sleep. I lie in bed with my thoughts beating up on me, telling me that if I REALLY wanted to sleep, I would. But deep inside I know that it isn't true. Truthfully, there's a malfunction that is very physical. __________________ |

That actually sounds delightful! I also love that early, early part of day. I wish I had the ability at that time to take a walk, but I'm always so exhausted that I can barely keep from stumbling. An early bike ride, then a nap sounds so nice. __________________ |

I fell asleep at my normal time with my regular stuff and woke up at 11:30. I got a few minutes of sleep about 45 minutes ago. My anxiety is a bit high. I haven't eaten much in awhile.

Wowee I was in my own bed again! Slept much better but woke way too early. But I was determined to not get up. I did manage to fall back asleep and dream. Not a full movie like dream but just a piece. I was at a fundraiser for kids. I used to volunteer but had fallen away from that. The ladies welcomed me back. They had cheap toys for sale with a scatterings of new ones. They had games for the kids and were wrapping them up in TP?! I found a board game that was sort of like clue but with many more pieces and more complex. I wanted it. And there were a few things I thought I could get for the grandkids. But lo and behold. I had no money or ID. But suddenly I realized I was carrying a purse! In it was my checkbook. Surely they would take a check from me! Then I woke up.

I fell asleep pretty fast. Before 7 I think. I woke up around 1:15 or so and got the ususal 45 minutes of sleep at 3:30. I feel decent.
