What is that one where you think because you were right one time then this time you will be right again? I said Covid would be a mess in February 2020 and no one believed me. But my mom is saying that the doctor is confident my surgery will be approved by my insurance or else the doctor wouldn’t be setting up all these appointments and giving me specific dates and times of the surgery and when to be there and stuff.

I know I often worry for nothing but Covid was a huge deal and no one believed me until the lockdown happened.

But everything else my mom has always been right about and it’s been nothing to worry about.

So I don’t know. I think it may be the jumping to conclusion or black and white thinking one.

It just has to go through insurance and they can’t submit it in too soon. But my mom says they will approve it or the hospital wouldn’t have already done all this other stuff. My mom says it will work out.

My old clinic managed to get the entire bottom surgery covered by insurance for a trans person. So I’d assume they would cover a medically necessary hysterectomy.

But like it’s set up and everything like that they just haven’t submitted it yet because it’s too soon. I’ll have to call the hospital in the morning to see what I’ll owe upfront and to see how to set up a payment plan. With my top surgery I owed $340 upfront but then everything else was covered and I eventually got reimbursed the $340. So my top surgery and the revisions were completely free and that was just considered a cosmetic surgery and not “necessary” until I got the letters from my Pdoc and therapist saying I’d benefit from the surgery and that I knew the risks and stuff.

I’ll get it done and stuff but I might have to pay out of pocket for a bit of it. My mom says I’m freaking out for no reason and if the hospital is setting it up and everything then they know they won’t have an issue with the insurance.

That makes sense! I know I'd be exactly where you are if I were exactly where you are- that is, I can see how you feel and would react similarly. Its always hard to wait. But your top surgery got done and paid for so why not your hysterectomy? I know its hard to believe when its something you really want but I think you're pretty much in the clear.

Sounds kinda like a cognitive distortion: Cognitive Distortions: 10 Examples of Distorted Thinking

I agree with your mom. A doctor wouldn't be recommending a surgery and going through all that headache with insurance and such for no reason at all. I think it will be fine. But I do understand your feelings about COVID because no one believed me either!
