I have been having bad chest pain and jaw pain. I am really reluctant to go to the hospital because of all the bad experiences I have had that I worry they will just think I am crazy. I know I should go but I worry they will just write it off as a mental problem like they always do.

you should go that could be a heart attack. Yes ER is notorious for dismissing physical symptoms of mental health patients but you can do it. Don’t let them defeat you before you even arrive.

I'm adding to the other posters: Go to the hospital. Chest pain should never be ignored especially with jaw pain. They will likely run an EKG to start out.

I agree, go to the hospital, they will pay attention to chest pain. At least let them rule out a heart-attack, a fairly simple procedure and then you can follow up with your medical doctor later. That's what i did when i had pain-twinges in my heart when my dog was sick. I was seen to at the hospital right away and sent on my way when a heart-attack was ruled out and saw my medical doctor later in the week and we concluded it was just anxiety about my dog. My dad died of a heart attack so it's always a concern with me and my medical doctor said i had done the right thing. Hopefully yours is something benign also. Best of luck!

So far the blood work and X-ray are fine. So another phantom illness and they better not refer me to psych.

So I went didn’t get home until 4am. All tests came back negative. They are chalking it up to possibly anxiety or a panic attack. I have had both before but it never felt like that. Can’t imagine how bad a real heart attack feels like.

Anxiety is hell. I'm sorry you had such a scare from it. I have had such symptoms from anxiety off and on since age 14. The danger is ignoring real warning signs, someday, because of such a history. It's always best to get things checked out. Always! Believe me that hospitals likely see people with similar, multiple times per day. But that doesn't have to mean you'll end up in a psych hospital. It does mean, in my view, that you should tell your psychiatrist about the incident immediately. Have you called him/her?

We all want you to get relief!

I can relate. I’ve been trying to avoid the doctor for a few days. I’ve had bad right side pain and just general pain everywhere and loss of appetite for several days. But every time I go to the ER they run tests and just say I have mild constipation. So I’m trying a bunch of home remedies right now. Anything to avoid going to the same hospital where I’ll be having surgery in a month.

Is there anyone that can go with you when it happens again? My mom is always with me so they tend to take my issues seriously and even when stuff is ok they never dismiss it as just mental health. I think it’s because my mom is with me.

Following up with my dr Wednesday. She was up until 11 Saturday night checking my test results and texting me. I have a pre physical on the 13th but still decided to do the follow up this week.

Went for my follow up. She thinks a muscle caused the issue. But other than that I am healthy. Except I have started having thoughts of getting high. I guess that is better that’s suicidal ideation. I am emotionally numb right now and I want to feel a high.
