I hate that stupid word. And I hate my psyd uses it to describe me lately.

I've had psychosis used to describe me in the recent past. It doesn't just mean hallucinations or delusions, though those are the most popular ways to use the word.

Both my pdoc and psyd say that I’m having tactile hallucinations and it’s psychosis. -eye roll-

Maybe that’s why he wouldn’t understand what I was trying to tell him about feeling numb

Hallucinations are part of psychosis. So are delusions. I'm not sure what your definition of psychosis is.

I just don’t like being told I’m “psychotic.”

I have no odd ideas or thoughts. Just feeling bugs crawl on me..

That's a tactile hallucination and hallucinations are part of psychosis so it is appropriate to say that you are "psychotic". I know there are bad inferences having to do with that word though and that's probably what you don't like.

Yes I hate the word. I told my psyd I did and he said sorry but that’s what it is.

Try to think of that word more medically rather than in the vernacular and maybe it won't be as upsetting. It's really no different than any other MD jargon (for us, when we're talking with our treatment team).

Depending on who I talk to some people say your not necessarily psychotic unless you’re out of touch with reality....that hallucinations aren’t enough to define psychosis maybe you need a doctor who is more like that?

I have some symptoms that come and go even on medication. My pdocs goal is to make it so I'm safe while having symptoms.

I've Googled "psychotic" before and as i understand it, it just means "loss of contact with reality." I've had religious psychoses before which were quite pleasant. I just get high on God and go to church a lot and think i have become sacred. It's all quite harmless.

I understand it's a scary word tho and usually psychoses are negative and very unpleasant. But not always. Remember that psychoses DO pass. They are just temporary and if you have a nasty one you will be helped thru it. Best of luck!

P.S.: There's actually a special word for the sensation of bugs crawling on or under your skin. It's "forMication." I got it for years after i had a small infestation of bedbugs which upset me no end. I know how unpleasant formication is. I hope your's passes quickly!
Thanks for this!

I had one where I carried a pocket cross and worshipped 24/7. Thought I needed to for protection from Satan

Mine are never fun. They’re always scary
