Yes, I sure have! For years I lived just a 1/2 block from the American River. There were all sorts of wildlife, including coyotes. They yip and howl at night. It was a little bit eerie, but very beautiful.

What Asian horoscope animal were you born in?

Pig, but I don't believe in any of the profiles. Not into horoscopes, either. I only know pig having studied Asian studies (China focus) at university.

What would you most like to change about your life situation?

Where I live

If you could make a living doing anything you want, what would it be?

I’d like to be an architect for public buildings. For one thing I’d put in a lot more bathroom s. And not located in awkward, out of the way places, but accessible.

What’s one big thing you’d like to do before the final curtain?

Well, I hope it would happen a lot earlier than "just before my final curtain", but I'd enjoy working again, making my own money. As for something else, I'd like to publish a book of short stories.

Have you ever traveled anywhere alone (beyond just driving to a place for errands) for a type of vacation or work trip? If so, where?

@Nammu, something I often find, especially when public restrooms are accessed from the outside of buildings, is that the women's room is always further away than the men's room, and often in a spooky corner.

I've done plenty of day trips hiking, mountain biking, skiing, in the white mountains of NH and Maine and the green mountains of VT, but never anything overnight.

Do you have a garden? What do you grow?

My mom does and since I live next door and help out with watering I pretend it's mine too. This year we're growing tomatoes, green beans, peas, zucchini, cucumber, mint, parsley, basil, and peppers.

Do you like milk chocolate, white chocolate or dark chocolate more?

I never got into reality tv so I've never actually seen Survivor. I do remember where I was the summer it first came out because everyone at my internship was really into it. Same year Viagra came out....

Do you have seasonal allergies?

Yes, I was annoyed by them and thus this question

Do you watch the same movies/read the same books over and over?

Yes, but only the ones I really love. Pride and Predjudice is the most extreme example. Both the BBC version with Colin Firth and the newer version with Keira Knightley. I also read the book through once and then reread parts again up to a few times. Other movies and books, too. Shawshank Redemption is another example.

What type of book is your favorite to read (non-fiction, comedy, poetry, scifi, adventure, romance, etc.)?

Non-fiction. I like reading about paleoanthropology type stuff, hiking/backcountry skiing guides, books about hiking the AT, etc.

Would you rather deal with extreme cold or extreme heat?

Extreme cold. I can put on layers but the heat sensitivity from my meds doesn't allow me to reduce my exposure to heat sufficiently.

Would you eat cooked insects? They're supposed to be a delicacy...

I wouldn't seek them out, but if they were served to me as a guest, I would likely try them. I'm a pretty good sport, as a guest. Actually, I think I may have once in the past. My memory is fuzzy on that.

Do you still have all of your wisdom teeth? And/or other original teeth?

Both of my wisdom teeth are gone. I was born without the other two. I actually had it done the week of my high school speech class and wound up with "unable to grade" on several areas because my face was still so swollen.

Do you wear much jewelry?

I used to wear jewelry. I had a bunch of piercings- nose, daith, cartilage, and industrial- and my bottom lip but took them all out because I was going back to judo. That didn't last so no more piercings.

Do you have dreams and if so how well do you remember them?

I rarely have/remember dreams. When I had a sleep study I rarely went into REM sleep which they blamed on my AP (go figure). Every once in a while I do remember.

Are you taking measures to adjust your spending with the current inflation?

Somewhat. Definitely staying close to home for the fun stuff, and keeping to the basics in the pantry, but my new job (If I get it) will take me about 30 minutes further than the old one. Although, an extra $10 thousand will definitely help with the gas bill!

Lynyrd Skynyrd or Allman Brothers?

I guess Lynyrd Skynyrd because I like "Free Bird" more than any of the Allman Brothers songs. They're not up in my top list of bands, though, but I think their works were well beyond anything written nowadays. To me, too many current singers sound like Taylor Swift, and I'm not fond of Taylor Swift's music. Boring, trite, and unsophisticated. Even rap isn't what it used to be. I'm sure young people would discount my thoughts on this as typical "old fogey". Oh well!

What is your go-to way to relax or de-stress?

Curling up under my weighted blanket

Have you ever taken a pottery class? that was on my to-do list when the pandemic hit and I've still not made it there.
