Hey everybody. New here. I’m Nollie. 28. Male. Located in Houston TX. I had always been diagnosed with clinical depression for many years, my mother has been bipolar for as long as I can remember. And around August I went through mania for the first time and I was actually the one to diagnose it which I know ppl may dismiss my self diagnosis but when I said it out loud my mother immediately got it. And they agreed that I was probably correct and since then I have been mostly depressed (as usual) and had maybe 5 mania stages. Rn I somehow feel both depressed and anxious and cannot sleep. Anyways thanks for listening, Hmu if you have any advice or anything.

First of all, welcome! I hope you find the forum supportive and helpful

It is possible you are having a mixed episode where you have symptoms of mania (such as anxiety, can't sleep) and depression at the same time? They're truly Hell on Earth. If you haven't already, find yourself a good psychiatrist and therapist to help you treat this beast.

Welcome, yungnollie!

I'm sorry to read that you've been struggling with bipolar symptoms for a while. Are you working closely with your doctor to address these issues? Therapy can also be an important adjunct treatment.

Support is so important, as is knowing you're not alone in dealing with such a disorder. We're glad you joined us here.

Welcome! I agree with Soupe de jour. We all know how debilitating untreated bipolar can be and how it affects us and those around us. I'm sorry you are suffering. I hope you find what you need from here.

Welcome @yungnollie I wouldnt dismiss the self diagnosis per se but you should get it confirmed and start medication. Does your mom take meds?
