Hello all,
So I had a psychiatrist visit for January 28th which was originally a telehealth appointment we switched it to an earlier appointment so it is now January 26th. I left her a voicemail over the week anxious as I was having a panic attack asking if she could up my latuda or add another medication to my mix. She added that she can't add medications over the phone unless we have an appointment which I believe. But the appointment was originally for tele-health but she wants it in person now.. She finally called me back friday saying she was confused by my phone call. And wants to switch my appointment to now an in-person so she can evaluate me better. My psychologist and psychiatrist talk with each other. I guess I'm paranoid because my psychologist made my appointment time for 10am which is 2 hours before I see the psychiatrist. Because he knows I won't go unless I know there not going to recommend to admit me. I'm not a danger to myself or others but I just don't trust the situation because there affiliated with the psych hospital. She said she wants my appointment to be in person so she can evaluate me better instead of Tele health and the whole situation is making me anxious to the point where I want to just cancel. So I see her Wednesday at 12:30pm now in person and the whole situation is making me think she wants to recommend the hospital to me. I'm in Michigan for reference |

That sounds scary. I would be anxious too if I was in that situation. Do you recall having said anything to either of them that they might interpret as a sign that you are a danger to yourself or others. I don't know what the law is in Michigan. I sure hope things work out for the best for you! I am so sorry you are burdened with the heavy anxiety you mentioned. Wish I knew what to say to help!

I believe you should keep your appointments. I doubt that they are waiting to IP you. It sounds to me like they're on top of the situation and are invested in helping you.

Sounds to me as if she is thinking of changing your meds and would be more comfortable upping or adding meds if she can see you in person. Even though they are affiliated with a hospital, hospitalization is much rarer now and most insurance won’t pay unless you really are in danger of self harm or harm to someone else. It sounds like that’s not a current issue.

I think you are right I think this is your anxiety playing worst case scenario.
My psychiatrist prefers seeing me in person as opposed to Telehealth because face to face and body language is so important. I don’t think the switch was made on the basis of your phone call and them now thinking about making you IP. I’ve definitely had times when I’ve had my psychiatrist and psychologist booked on the same day too. |
