Mountaindewed, I'm happy you don't have covid or anything much much worse. Do take care to get over the viral pneu""" quickly. Sorry I forgot the full name.
I have had mild kidney damage since my early 40s. Try not to catastrophize. I'm not worrying much about it, at this point. See the nephrologist and see what he/she says. Mine told me to simply drink lots of water (not a bunch of soda pop) and avoid getting diabetes. Maybe that's as much as you'll need to do, too. Throughout my life I've had some doctors over exaggerate, some be more reasonable, and only the rare one not take things seriously enough. __________________ Dx: Bipolar type 1 Psych Medications: * Tegretol XR (carbamazepine ER) 800 mg * Lamictal (lamotrigine) 150 mg * Seroquel XR (quetiapine ER) 600 mg I also take meds for blood pressure, cholesterol, and tachycardia. My doctors always seem to think my kidney issues are a big deal but maybe thats just me. My mom made it seem like they were a bit more alarmed this time. I have an ultrasound on Thursday that may or may not show something.
I always feel so bad for people when they finally find a med that works for them after years of struggling and that med is lithium. It never did much for me but I know its been a life saver for other people. __________________ Ridin' with Biden |

I'm so glad you are proactive about your medical care, Md. It's especially important for trans people because of the hormone treatments and all. But I'm sure you're aware of that.

My boyfriend took lithium for years and now has stage 3 kidney disease. I took lithium for a year and now have hypothyroidism and have to take levothyroxine for life. I know it works for so many people but never again for us!

I took lithium with seraquel from 2011 to 2014. Seraquel trigged my depression and forged it to bipolar, while lithium damaged my thyroid gland. So I was forced to quit both in 2014, when I was hospitalised for some days (they couldn’t just switch - I needed to go through some tests first). And all analysis looked bad. Doctors told me, if I continued with lithium not only would I get my thyroid gland destroyed - I would damage heavily my kidneys as well.
So since 2014 I’m on olanzapine and ergenyl. One downside of too much ergenyl was that my hands started to shake, but when they adjusted to the right (“Goldilock”) dose, I’m as fine as I ever was before. Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk |

The doctors office called a few minutes ago and set me up with an appointment with a kidney doctor for next Tuesday. I'm trying not to read too much into it, but at least specialists used to be booked months out because of of covid. Even getting an ultrasound took 2 weeks to get. My mom told me not to worry about it. My therapist told me to just ask the doctor a lot of questions so I'm not left wondering and anxious.

This person I know who is about the same age as me struggled really badly with her mental health and was in and out of the hospitals since she was 10 and discovered lithium and she has been out of the hospital for a over a year and claims the drug saved her life.
Meanwhile I'm thinking "oh hon, just wait until it starts giving you health issues and then you'll be back to where you started with your mental health and your physical health will be ****ed up as well." __________________ Ridin' with Biden |
