The whole desiderata. It’s not as easy too remember as, keep calm and carry on. But I’ve found it to be a wonderful inspiration as a way to live life. Part of it is in my signature. The other motto I often repeat to myself is simply the word, KINDNESS. It reminds me to take a breath and try to see things from another POV before getting all bent out of shape.
A wonderful question, what motto do you live by? __________________ Nammu …Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. …... Desiderata Max Ehrmann |

Oh, I missed a few posts! No I’ve never had a snake as a pet. Uff, no! My cousin scared me to death when we were kids. I lifted up a huge piece of metal and there was a snake under it, I screamed and dropped it on the snake. My cousin said snakes could travel underground faster than I could run and that he was mad at me. I couldn’t sleep for days waiting for the snake to get me!
If you could hire someone to help you would it be with, cleaning, yard work or cooking? __________________ Nammu …Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. …... Desiderata Max Ehrmann |

Right now the book I'm reading several times is Icebound by Jerri Nielsen. She was the doctor at the South Pole who developed breast cancer right after it became impossible to get a plane in or out of the South Pole and had to do her own biopsies and eventually the military did an air-drop to provide meds and supplies she needed. She was evacuated as soon as possible.
I'm interested because I'm fascinated by Antarctica; the breast cancer bit is secondary. Same question: Favorite book currently? __________________ Bipolar 1, PTSD, GAD, OCD. In Extremis. It's a fairly extensive biography of war correspondent Marie Colvin done by her friend Lindsey Hilsum. It covers everything from her early life on Long Island through her time in journalism and reporting on wars until her untimely death in Syria in 2012.
Once more: favorite book at the moment? __________________ "I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. The only other one I really have right now is my devotional for my Bible study group; Powerful Thinking by Joyce Meyer

It's been just over five years. I went to Boston and New Haven, CT on a kind of family history investigation. It was a lot of fun and I learned quite a bit!

I wish I had an ear and eye for languages, especially old dead ones. I’d love to read the oldest bible in Aramaic and Gilgamesh in cuneiform and just for fun old Latin.

I wish I could cook meals that were worthy of actually eating
then perhaps I wouldn't spend half my life starving and wasting food. do you think hospitals smell?. I always never fail to notice the smell connected only with a hospital. it's.... horrible, especially when you get home and it's on you. |

I only really smell soap in hospitals. But I worked in nursing homes and home health care for many years and got acclimated to some really horrible smells. So probably I'm not the best to answer this question.
Do you have a favorite scent soap/essential oil/perfume/etc? __________________ Bipolar 1, PTSD, GAD, OCD. Clozapine 250 mg, Emsam 12 mg/day patch, topamax 25 mg, ,Gabapentin 1600 mg & 100-2 PRN,. 2 mg clonazepam., 75 mg Seroquel and 12.5 mg PRNx2 daily |

Yes. My favorite scent in the world was the way my sister always smelled, which was of Lauren Perfume and Marlboro cigarettes. She never smelled ashy, always a rich floral scent with the slight, fragrant Marlboro scent. And a tiny bit of leather tossed in, since she wore leather of some kind...a leather jacket, leather boots, leather mini skirt, leather bag, leather gloves. She had the scent of a rock star and I loved it. It smelled like talent and music and hard work, movement, lights, fun, a show, a crowd of happy people who would have a memory of something amazing.
Q: Same, pretty much. Name a scent that you love because it gives you a wonderful memory. __________________ |

Burnt coffee. Spent a lot of summers cooped up in a camper with my family when I was young, ugh, burnt coffee. They all drank that vile stuff except me. To this day I don’t drink coffee. Not even the fancy kinds.
Would you rather vacation in Alaska or Hawaii? Why? __________________ Nammu …Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. …... Desiderata Max Ehrmann |

Alaska, hands down. If you're far enough in the woods or up the mountain, you have a sunrise or a sunset or just a great view that's all yours. The beaches of Hawaii, to me, is static and crowded. The mountains in Alaska are dynamic and singular.
What is one item that you will pay the name brand price for? __________________ "I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. Quote:
Domino sugar. The store brand was too often hard as a rock and needed to be broken up with an ice pick. Also Kellogg's corn flakes because the taste and texture was better than the no frills options. A couple more, but otherwise, there were a lot of store brand things that were quite good. For example, the Shoprite store brand chocolate hazelnut spread (imported from Italy) was yummier than US-based Nutella (made in New Jersey for US distribution). The Nutella available in Czech Republic is made in Poland or Czech Republic. Other brands available of this product in CZ are made in places like Sweden, nowadays. Not from its original source in Italy. What is/are your favorite Christmas cookie(s) or cookie in general? __________________ Dx: Bipolar type 1 Psych Medications: * Tegretol XR (carbamazepine ER) 800 mg * Lamictal (lamotrigine) 150 mg * Seroquel XR (quetiapine ER) 600 mg I also take meds for blood pressure, cholesterol, and tachycardia. |
