Time for a new thread!
Halloween was a lot of fun. Went thru 14 pounds of candy and then some left over from last year. So we had a lot of children and teens and adults. After it was over we went to popeyes for chicken. I ate 2 thighs and they were so good but gave me heart burn at night when we were trying to sleep. I woke up several times cause I thought I was going to get sick. Damn heartburn, I should not have eaten the skin. That is the best part, IMHO. I forgot to mention that 2 stinging ants fell on me from the trees while i was at a clients house. one of them stung me on my upper inner arm. I brushed it away and it got on my hand and stung my 4th finger on my right hand. I was sure to kill it as I did not want to get stung again. but then a little while later a 2nd one appeared. I killed him before he had a chance to bit me. These ants were clear bodies, Not quite the size of a carpenter ant, But thinner. my arm still itches and is swollen. my theory is that the ant used up most of his venom on the first bite and just a little left from the second bite.It really hurt, the sting lasted quite a while that is why I called them stinging ants. I really don't know what kind of ants they were. anyway.... work is going fine. I had a 101 year old client female today. She was really eccentric, and rather nosy. She was doing the math in her head about our incomes and not having any children. How we must be well off. I told her we were saving for retirement. Our scaredy cat hallie decided to come out from hiding to visit. Her anxiety is really bad some times. She is afraid of us for the most part. We have never done anything to cause her to be afraid of us. With any movement she hide. or if I am carrying my laundry basket she runs and hides under the futon. She used to hide under the guest bed but then we would never get to see her. there is all sorts of stuff under the bed and the bottom of the box is ripped and you can't really see anything under there. So, we closed off access to that bed room and keep her out of there. now she hides under the futon. She has found a new place to hide. under the top open drawer of the printer table. I can see her back there behind the printer paper but she won't come out. Jeff found a letter under our welcome mat when he was hiding chords for halloween decorations. Last christmas one of my clients sons had stuck that under our mat. It was a gift card to carraba's italian restaurant. Jeff was tired today from all of his activity getting ready for the tricker treaters. so we went out to eat there. We had a delicious meal. mussels, bread to sop up the broth which was very good.I had 3 beers over the course of the meal. jeff ordered a glass of chardonnay. I started with a spicy chicken noodle soup which was very tasty, then had a wonderful salad and a side of fettuccine alfredo and was stuffed. Jeff ordered shrimp and scallops in a red vodka sauce. He tookhalf of his home for dinner tomorrow. He said he was full not stuffed. I hope I can sleep tonight. We have veal meatballs that are needing to be cooked. anyway. This is all souls day in the catholic church. I think this is true. I am not catholic. I think that people go visit their loved ones graves and clean them up. Thank you for reading along with me. 14 bags! I've barely ever given out 14 pieces. I've just never lived in a spot where I got a lot of trick-or-treaters.
That is a lot of candy! The mussels sound delicious. I want to try them but have never had a chance. Things aren't so yummy by the time they are this far from the ocean. Mussels come from the ocean.
You've sure been busy, bizi! Sounds like Halloween was lots of fun. I'm sorry about the heartburn, though. Miserable feeling. Also, the stinging ants! Yikes. I didn't know there were ants that sting. Jeff found the gift certificate that had been under the mat since last Christmas? What a treat! Hallie sounds like my Jack. He's literally the biggest cat I've ever seen - very tall and so long. Gorgeous black coat. And that poor cat is afraid of his own shadow. He's been treated gently and lovingly since he was a tiny kitten, but he is terrified of just about everything. The only time Jack is calm is when he's curled up with Solomon, another of my cats, and Jack's best buddy. Oh, that's interesting - All Soul's Day must be what I know as Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). __________________ |
