Hi, for those of you who experience them, would you describe what racing thoughts feel like?

Imagine thoughts were like cars, and combine NASCAR with bumper cars and that's what racing thoughts feel like to me but with infinite cars.

Thinking too much and not for very long on any one particular thought.

So a lot of thoughts, all happening at the same time, kind-of like this emoticon?
-------> Is there a difference between a crowd of thoughts and racing thoughts, or are they the same thing? Do non-BD people have times of only one thought? Also, does medication make it so you don't have racing thoughts? __________________ |

Oh boy . When my brain is overflowing with stuff more so with dark thoughts. It’s actually physical pain. A heads up for me is when I’m skipping words in sentences, typing or verbal. I find it really embarrassing.

Muddy boots did a great job describing it. There’s also a constant buzzing, humming that’s distracting but at the same time I have an intolerance for noise, and light, it’s all too loud.

Does anyone have music or sounds (not hallucinations, but inside your mind) along with the thoughts?

Im having racing thoughts right now. Whew. Made plans to do huge things immediately. I knew I was hypomanic, but reading this here made me realize I need to take something to slow me down. The results of Isolating for 3 years to avoid covid for my ex's emphysema and the ensuing bad behavior by both of us triggered me into hypomania with very uncomfortable racing thoughts: do this, and this, and this, and this!!!.
Remember those experiments about rats being crowded and the aggression it causes? Phew. We have to do better at my house! Oh, yes, I remember those poor rats. I suppose it's well known, but covid really has had a devastating effect on us as individuals and on society as a whole. Yesterday, I was shopping in Target for the first time in 3 years and the effects of covid were glaring. The concessions (Starbucks, a pizza place) are just empty spaces with empty deli cases still sitting there. The store shelves had so many empty spaces. It was unsettling and I won't be returning there soon.

My racing thoughts are never a crowd of thoughts. They are always linear thoughts, are never confusing, but they occur very fast. And there is an internal feeling of pressure (not physical) from these non-stop thoughts.
Also, when I am having racing thoughts, I often have a rapid succession of insights. usually the insights are correct. |

Like a runaway train. Thoughts speeding along the proverbial track faster than I can articulate them and the agitation of having to explain myself when my mind is already three, four, five stops down the line.

^^^ This is how my racing thoughts feel. Wow, you've described it really well with the train analogy. Having to explain myself when the train of thoughts is 3,4,5, stops down the line - perfect. __________________ |
