Something that comes up in therapy a lot with me is the idea of utilizing gratitude as a way to ground some positive into your day. It doesn't have to be something big, or significant in the grand scheme ... just something of the moment that means something to you.

example:
1) I'm so grateful I got my medicine today and I have a helpful, resourceful team of providers (doctor, pharmacy, pharmacists/techs etc.).

2) I am grateful for a nice warm meal on a cold day

3) I am grateful for this forum for having an outlet.

and so on.

Use that gratitude to ground your day into something positive. Perhaps nothing is going your way that day.. find a little comfort in the little things that went right. And you know what? Being human? Maybe it's hard to find that thing to be grateful for today.. and that's ok too. Be grateful for the insight to realize, today isn't gonna be a day to find something specific to be grateful for. Perhaps even have a default "At least I have my ____".

So... just for me (and I hope others join in) I'd like to try this exercise here with you all. I think it's helpful sometimes to remember the positive of life, especially when we suffer the negative on a daily basis.

That's it! I'm finished. Example 1 is my daily gratitude. I look forward to reading yours!

I’m so grateful I have a car that works.

It got me out to get necessities and gas.

I’m so grateful to the check out lady at the store. She remembers me and brightens up and chats with me.

It’s a small nice connection with a human

I'm grateful for a therapist who reminded me that I've been much worse than I am now and that I'll feel better when my meds are adjusted and a pdoc who told me that she can see how bad I feel and gave me ways to help (and told me I'll feel better when my meds are adjusted). I feel better after those appointments.

I’m very grateful to my library which allows me to print return labels.

I’m grateful there’s one store where you can drop off packages to return.

I’m grateful for Amazon which allows me to buy, exchange and/or return things or I’d have to drive hours to get to a city to shop.

I am grateful for my boss at work who kept my job open for me when I have been recovering from the car accident. I am grateful for my dog, who is there to greet me when I come home from work. I am grateful for the easy job I have at work, where I now can afford to purchase things. I now have the money to recover from emergencies, no long worried about where the money will come from. I am grateful in having a daughter. Despite her problems, I think it will work out for her. I am grateful for the nice days outside that we have been having here recently. I am grateful to still be alive.
