Has anyone been able to purchase private life insurance while being bipolar?

Oh that sucks I’m sorry.

I don’t have life insurance. It’s not something I’ve thought about before.

The only life insurance I ever had was through my old jobs, as part of benefits packages. It wasn't anything I needed to apply for or reveal anything about myself for, as I recall. I didn't have a bipolar dx at the start there, anyway. I think its payout would have only been enough to cover stuff like funeral costs, plus a bit more. So no, I never applied for any type of life insurance of the sort that you refer to. Also, I lost that insurance when I became separated (terminated/left) from the companies.

Soupe, yes, through the job I have a small benefit to cover funeral costs, but if I lose the job, it will be gone.

FWIW You also cannot get health insurance as a bipolar. I have tried, but this was before the health insurance market (Obamacare).

I have life insurance, bipolar and morbidly obese. Just a small amount to cover burial. 15k

I have a Medicare Advantage plan as part of SSDI. When looking for insurance, best thing to do is not to mention BP unless specifically asked about it.

My parents set up a life insurance plan for me when I was born. I pay something every couple months. I don't think I can lose it for any reason despite all my medical and mental health issues.

I got a term plan before I was diagnosed. The term expired, and I keep quietly paying all their rate increases to stay insured because I don't want them to deny me. I'm a single mom, and my son doesn't even know his dad. My son has an intellectual disability too. Makes me sick.
