While I was sick last week I took two behind the counter Sudafed, which I read online is bad for bipolar and schizo people.

Since then I've been having these awful waking nightmares.

I'm freaking out!

Last night I was having auditory and tactile hallucinations and tossing and turning in my sleep and laughing and talking and having waking nightmares.

In them I feel something menacing standing beside the bed. It talks to me in my husband's voice. Last night it was actually shaking me. I sleep with the covers over my head (always have). The entire time I was just thinking to myself, "It's just a hallucination. It's just a hallucination!"

I've also been hearing voices and music while fully awake.

What is happening to me?!

I haven't taken a Sudafed in a week!!!

Maybe I need to go back on prazosin (for the nightmares).

Sorry for making a whole new thread about this. I'm just really scared. I feel like I'm losing my grip on reality.

((((((((raspberry)))))))))

I'm so sorry for the way you are feeling. It's scary, for sure.

Contact your pdoc doc asap to discuss this with him/her!!!

The entity beside your bed sounds like an episode of sleep paralysis - and that can be quite terrifying to experience.

Hang in there!!

That sounds really scary. I'm sorry that's happening to you
Sounds like the Sudafed triggered something. I agree with TheGal, get in touch with your pdoc and see what you guys can come up with whether it's prazosin or maybe an antipsychotic adjustment is needed to feel more in touch with reality again.

Thanks guys. I plan on calling right away this morning. I was going to call anyway because my sleep has been shyt as of late and ask for a seroquel increase.

As a side note, I recently cut way back on my main antipsychotic (loxapine). I was on 150mg. Now I'm on 50mg. We cut back because I couldn't tolerate, physically, that high of a dose. Maybe I cut back too much?

It's possible. Too much and/or too quickly. A combo of that, the Sudafed, and the lack of sleep does not make for a good situation

Yeah. I wish I could get a decent night of sleep! I'm calling at exactly 8AM and just explaining what's been going on. And asking for an extra seroquel before bed and seeing if I can go on prazosin again.

I'm NEVER taking Sudafed again! Sudafed is EVIL.

My doctor will be in the office tomorrow, so I should hear back tomorrow. I really REALLY hope I get a seroquel increase!

Didn't get much sleep again last night, but no nightmares thankfully. No call from pdoc still. I've given up hope. I've tried his patience to the limit as far as changing my meds goes apparently, but I'm just asking for an extra prn seroquel to take if I wake up at 2AM and can't fall back asleep! It's not like a huge med overhaul. I already take seroquel anyway. 200mg of it to be exact, divided throughout the day.

I don't know. I was really scared when I left that message on the nurse line! I feel like they don't give a fluck, so fluck them!!!

I just want a decent night of restful sleep!!

IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?!

I FEEL LIKE I'M LOSING MY MIND!

It doesn't matter anyway. I got a nice new, full bottle of seroquel to abuse from the pharmacy today. This weekend should be fun.

(Yes I have a tendency to abuse seroquel. Yes I know it's sad and a really pathetic med to abuse, especially considering how I'm on gabapentin and diazepam and don't abuse those or want to.)

Try not to abuse it or they'll take it away and you won't get enough sleep.

I told my pdoc I abuse it. That may be why he doesn't want to increase it. Should have kept my big mouth shut. I couldn't help it though. It's such a pathetic med to be addicted to . It only makes me sleep if I take 100mg+ and then for only 3 - 4 hours max. And that's only sometimes. Otherwise it just makes me sleepy and high and nice feeling.

I'll try not to abuse it though.

I've been having trouble sleeping through the night and I read that a teaspoon of raw organic honey helps, if taken half an hour before bed. You can also put the honey in herbal tea (but I try not to drink a lot of fluids within an hour or two of sleep.)

The honey does seem to help me stay asleep. If you google it you can find out the science behind it.

Thanks sami

Unfortunately I can't have honey. Otherwise I would try it. I also try not to drink too much fluid before bed. I've been taking 10mg of melatonin out of desperation, but it doesn't seem to be helping as much as I'd hoped.

My doctor's office isn't calling me back. I think I've tried my pdoc's patience to the limit with all the med changes I've made on my own, and he knows I abuse seroquel, so he doesn't want to give me any prn seroquel to take if I wake up in the middle of the night (which is EVERY night) and can't fall back asleep.

At this point I've given up. I'm just going to be a three to four hours of sleep a night person. He gave me topamax at my last appointment to take before bed and said it should help me sleep, but it hasn't. Maybe it takes awhile to work?

I actually asked to go on it because I read it helps you lose weight. So far it hasn't, but I haven't been on it that long.

I don't know.

I give up.

At least I haven't had any nightmares or hallucinations. The sudafed must be fully out of my system. I'm NEVER taking that shyt again!

Are you on regular seroquel or XR? If you're on regular maybe if you take the XR a little earlier you'll sleep a little longer (and idk but maybe it won't have the same high and you won't be as tempted to abuse it)

I'm on the regular seroquel. I take 200mg divided into four doses throughout the day.

I was thinking about asking my pdoc about the XR though...

I don't know though. He hasn't said anything about it, and I don't want to try his patience further.

I drugged myself before bed last night and slept like a baby! Six straight hours! And I didn't have any bad dreams. Yay!

I think my seroquel binging is getting out of control. I don't know what to do. I CRAVE it. It feels so GOOD. Ugh! WHY!!!! It's such a stupid med to abuse out of all the meds I'm on. Like, I just took 200mg. If I don't control myself I'm going to run out early! I have a lot of leeway right now because the pharmacy doesn't give too much of a **** when I pick it up, as long as s my insurance pays. I mean, I can pick it up five days early.

I don't know. I feel DOOMED to the seroquel.

Damn you seroquel!

WHY!!!!!
