I think this is me too. If I think about it I don’t eat whole meals when I eat- some chicke then 2-3 hours later salad or cereal. Hot ovaltine helps at night.

I have never heard of ovaltine.

I actually liked cocoa, especially when I was a child. I can try drinking hot cocoa (just milk and cacao powder, no sugar: I like it this way) before going to bed.

I should try drinking just plain hot milk before bed and adding a teaspoon of chia seeds to it. Chia seeds supposedly help fill you up.

I of course had oatmeal and an apple at 5AM and it is now 8:35AM and I am STARVING already. Will not eat though. I'll just go drink some more tea. Sigh. This is sucky. I don't know why I always have to be so damn HUNGRY.

Try eating a 385 calorie can of Bush's butter beans for breakfast. You won't be too hungry for the rest of the day.

today was so-so. had hunger but not as bad as yesterday

in the evening I was eating chicken pho and feeling that I was not getting full at all until it suddenly clicked in the middle of the meal and I was full at once. I saved half of the bowl and enjoyed a cup of tea. Let us see what the night brings.

That has been darn tricky to figure out. What exactly is a good serving size for me for this food for this time of day, such that i am not overstuffed and i stay satiated for a good while, ie i dont get snacky, and i can sleep at night and stay awake during the day. I feel like dam goldilocks! But mostly i have learned to wait and i wont want a second helping after all, and that has been a great lesson.

Yes. Unsweetened vanilla almond milk. I ended up eating an apple and a pretzel rod and drinking a cup of milk and was able to fall back asleep.

Today eating-wise hasn't been too bad. I had the above mentioned, a bowl of cereal, a pancake, another apple, some honeydew and a cookie. Could have been worse.

Today I had a completely OK day. No hunger pangs. Normal satiety from properly spaced meals without excessive food intake.

Go figure. They come and go.

I think I've mentioned that I take 600 mg of Seroquel XR (extended release) and 50 mg Seroquel IR (instant release) at night. I'm assuming you only take the 75 mg Seroquel IR (I assume IR) at night? Certainly Seroquel XR has been far more weight friendly for me than the IR, though not weight neutral. There were times, years back, that I took higher doses of the IR and had to split them between morning and evening. That was the least friendly situation of them all, for me. I attribute that to the rapid and high "spike" (as I call it) of the IR. As if IR pushed me to level 9 of hunger (twice per day), but my XR hunger level only rises to levels 6 to 7.

I get extremely hungry starting 2 hours after my evening medications, which I take with dinner. Obviously partly because of the 600 mg XR, but more so because of that 50 mg IR. However, I'm not that hungry in the morning or daytime, perhaps because I ate a lot at night? Or the medications has already spiked, and were heading downward on the curve? I try to eat lighter meals during those lower appetite times, so I can get away with the higher calorie consumption at night. I'm far from perfect in my late night food choices, but if I include some lower cal ones (low fat popcorn, plain yogurt with fruit, slice bread with cinnamon/sugar), it helps. These past 2 1/2 months I've also increased my physical activity. I've lost 8 lbs (3.6 kg) during this period. More physical activity makes even more easier, and I'm sure increases metabolism. Plus, I get more caught up in activities during the daytime, so don't even think of eating then.

My husband often says that "Sometimes when you think you're hungry, you're actually thirsty." He's right. I drink a lot of liquids during the day, especially water. Also, over the years, I try to make daytime coffee or tea a form of snack. I nurse 1 1/2 cups of coffee for hours in the morning. In the late afternoon I'll have a Lungo or cup of Earl Grey tea with milk and sugar sub. Years back, I found low fat cappuccinos to be filling.

I have been doing better but am afraid to jinx it.

I also have low iron reserves (ferritin) and have started reading on the relationship between iron and leptin.

Happy to hear you've been doing better.

I'm still not doing all that great unfortunately, though better than before. I think the topamax may be kicking in finally. I'll probably request an increase at my next pdoc appointment. Unfortunately I take the majority of my seroquel at bedtime, still sleep like ****, and am ravenously hungry around 5AM.
