Unfortunately I take the majority of my seroquel at bedtime, still sleep like ****, and am ravenously hungry around 5AM.
oh that would be such a problem for me. I have to take Levoxyl first thing in the morning and not eat for at least 30 minutes after it.

What's levoxyl?

Yeah. It sucks.

@Tart Cherry Jam

I was wondering how the topamax is working out for you? Have you lost any weight? I sadly have not lost a single pound and my hunger is still there, though admittedly not quite as bad. Just curious as to how it's working out for you.

Oh, I stopped using Topamax. It was giving me such bad word retrieval difficulties, and, it was not helping with hunger pangs at that time.

Later, hunger pangs mostly resolved by themselves. I do not know why they came on in December and do not know why they largely disappeared in February.

I have not lost any weight, even though I have been exercising quite a bit since the beginning of December. But no, the number on the scale would not budge.

Oh okay. I'm so happy 😊 to hear that your hunger pangs have disappeared! That has to be so nice. That's great. It's 2:30AM here and I'm STARVING. Ugh. I just took my antibiotic though and can't eat for two hours, so it's tea and water for me!

Sorry to hear you're not losing any weight. I feel your frustration.

That is awful, I know, feeling so hungry but being unable to eat for 2 hours!

That is comforting for me to know that a ton of fluids carried the day for you: I have colonoscopy scheduled in July, the first one in my life, and I will need to be on a no solids, clear liquid diet for 1.5 days (one full day, one night, and then until 5PM of the day of the procedure)! But the physician assistant said that there are no limits on the amounts of clear liquid. I guess I will be drinking broth by the gallon!

There is a limit, but it is fairly high. Google hyponatremia.

Oh my god. I would die if I couldn't eat that long! I'd be drinking tons of broth too. Good luck!

Jello is your friend during that time too. It just can't have red dye in it. Normally I think it's pretty gross but I ate a lot of it before my colonoscopy.

Noted. The GI physician assistant recommended jello, too (but did not warn me about red dye).

And noted about low sodium. I typically buy and cook with low sodium chicken broth, but for this I will buy regular to get more sodium. Will also drink water with electrolytes.

I must say that I feel very lucky that my hunger pangs went away.

During this time, my endocrinologist increased my Levoxyl. My TSH results have not changed yet, though. So I do not know if the disappearance of hunger pangs resulted as a beneficial effect of my taking more Levoxyl.

But @raspberrytorte, it is worth getting your thyroid function checked.

@BeyondtheRainbow and unaluna: I am going to have a trial run of being on a liquid diet. Will start with half a day. Broth (not low sodium) and jello except for the one dyed red. Plus cranberry tea and black tea. Let us see how long I can go. I want to reassure myself that it is possible so that I would not get all anxious the day before the procedure.

I know it has to be unpleasant but I honestly don't remember the liquid diet part of the experience at all so it must not have been as bad as it sounds. (?) I remember my mom making jello for me and finding bone broth on its' own disgusting but not much else. Hopefully that is good news.

Which kind of cleanse do you have to do? The jug of stuff or Gatorade?

The jug of stuff that my mail order pharmacy sent to me.

I have never had bone broth. I was thinking of regular broth which I do like drinking.

I am going to go to Safeway now and buy a variety of jello to see which ones I like. As a child, I actually knew how to make jello myself (like your mom), but I have not practiced in decades. Let me start with store-bought options.

Yeah, I know how to make Jello but somehow mine always turns out grainy. I don't understand it.

Bone broth is kind of thick. I much prefer regular broths. I'm sure I tried to fill up on "fake soup".

The stuff in the jug doesn't taste the greatest. An NP in my GI's office told me to add Crystal Light tea (no red dyes again) to it and it did help. I dumped the whole box of packets in there. Ask first of course but it really helped me. My prep was a bit odd because they were freaking out about my MAOI and anesthesia. I've had generals several times on it but for some reason this freaked them out. So they prepped me to be put under (which didn't happen). I had to drink the whole thing in 1 dose instead of divided. Which has benefits and problems.

My PA at the GI's office warned me that the prep would taste awful but did not tell me about Crystal Light tea. I will ask her! She said I can drink the stuff little by little and not all at once, probably because this is a regular case without complications.

Good luck with your liquid diet @Tart Cherry Jam!

I had my thyroid checked in August and everything was fine. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to have it checked again.
