Yesterday I kept feeling like I had to pee but couldn’t. I was also dealing with fecal incontinance. I felt like I had to pee but couldn’t. I called the doctor’s office. The did a catheter and removed 800 ccs of urine. They did the same thing at the ER- almost as many ccs as the first time. They are running a D. Dimer test which tells them if you have blood clots. I wasn’t having any dizziness, light headed mess and my lungs are clear. My pulse was 133 and my blood pressure was 100 something over one hundred something. Finally it’s down to a normal level.

This is very similar to what happened a few months ago. That time I couldn’t pee still so they sent me home with a catheter in place. I hope they don’t want to do that again. Along with the painfull bladder etc I also had been having diarrhea that would fill up a pad in a matter of minutes! I’m not having and of that now but I was at the drs office. Trying to pee I managed to push so hard that I gave myself hemorrhoids.

Anyway I’m going to have to follow up with my primary doctor.

It’s probably a med thing. Called an anticholingeric effect. I get it whenever I’m on more than one antipsychotic, high doses of an antipsychotic, or an antipsychotic and another med with the same effect like cogentin.

Oh, Moose, that sounds awful. I hope they figure out what is going on soon and that you start feeling better.

I was peeing and pooping but i figured out it was the potassium i was taking with my diuretic. My dr was like, take it anyway. He probably wasnt even born yet when i was first prescribed the potassium so uh no.

I hope they figure it out soon, moose.

They decided it was the Loxapine. They send me home with a catheter in place. My cat is crying to come in the bedroom but she has a bad habit of chewing all things plastic and my catheter and bag are all plastic.

What is the decision about taking Loxapine? Will you continue to take it, or will the doc switch you to something else?

It’s the Loxapine. Had a dry mouth so been drinking lots of water. I also take Benztropine.

I’ve finally figured out how to open the valve on the catheter bag so I can empty it now. Still drinking water. I hope it can be taken out at my dr appointment Monday.

I stopped taking it last night with the OK of my pnurse. I see her next week so we will hopefully figure something else.

Nope not the Ingrezza. (That would upset me if I had to stop taking it!). It’s the Loxipine. So I’m off it since Wednesday since I didn’t have my meds at the hospital.

Are you going through any withdrawal? I had a hell of a time weaning myself down to 50mg. I was staying on 50mg initially because I couldn't handle the withdrawal anymore, then because I PROMISED my psychiatrist I wouldn't make anymore changes, and now because I'm weaning my fat *** off seroquel.

No withdrawal except that I got up at 3:30. The loxapine made me fat too.

I somehow figured out how to get my shorts and underwear off but I will have to wear pants and underwear on Monday to my follow up drs appointment. It seems like a simple task. So why can’t I figure this out!?

If this becomes a chronic issue, you can learn how to catheterize yourself. It isn't hard to learn and do. When I was doing it I could do it by feel (locate the female meatus without looking). It is much more comfortable than having a Foley catheter in place. Anyway Foley catheters require meticulous care and are prone to getting infected. You also don't have to put up with all the disgusting accessories that come with them.

Saw the doctor again today- same one that sent me to the hospital last week. She set up an appointment with urology in another city for this Thursday. Maybe I’ll get it out then. She also gave me paperwork how to care for my hemorrhoids. She said a sits bath but how do I make sure feces doesn’t invade the catheter and thus my urethra?

Saw Pdoc today. Liver enzymes are up. Ugh. She put me on invega and stopped the cogentin and loxapine . Going to pick up my meds now.

Hope stopping the cogentin and loxapine helps. I've never been on loxapine but I've been on fluphenazine (which has even less anticholinergic effects than loxapine) and cogentin. They both caused urinary retention for me. If I remember correctly, most 2nd gen APs have less anticholinergic effects than 1st gens.

I tried fluphenazine and had this same reaction.

I passed! Went to my urology appointment and they took my catheter out after they filled my bladder to comfortably full and I peed all of it out! I passed! So no more catheter!!
