I've exhausted the AP list too, either they don't work or the side effects are as bad as the psychosis for me. There is a "least shyttiest option" for me though. I haven't been on any meds most of this year, and so far psychosis has only come up with substance use or withdrawal. If it comes back, I'm going with seroquel because it kinda works and the side effects are tolerable.

Is there a certain amount of time he wants you off the meds? or as long as possible? or is he going for forever? maybe generally off meds but put back on when needed?

It just seems like a bad idea when you have multiple psychotic episodes under your belt and not have a back up plan in place if you have a pdoc.

I can't remember if I asked you this, but have you tried haldol, moose? As far as side effects go that had the least for me, besides weight loss, which is obviously totally fine! Lol. It only caused me a bit of muscle rigidness after being on it for seven years (and it stopped working).

What side effects did seroquel give you? It just makes me a tad sleepy and made me gain fifty pounds. Ugh. But it's great for my anxiety and delusions/paranoia are gone.

Oh, and I'm happy you're taking a rest period! Is it helping at least a little bit?

I see my Pdoc in 3 weeks. We will see how my td is then. Vraylar is basically my last hope as the other two that I haven’t taken are too much like others I’ve reacted badly to. But right now I’m taking a month off meds to get the TD under control. So far the psychosis is manageable. No mania or depression. I caught up on my sleep last night.

I hope the Vraylar helps without aggravating the td. Keep a watchful eye on things and don't be hesitant to leave a message to your pdoc if things start getting to be a bit too much.

The sleep is great! I hope you can keep that up

Yes haldol destroyed my vocal cords. I’m lucky I can talk and I can’t really sing any more. Seroquel dried out my mouth which gave me multiple cavities in my teeth. I also gained weight on seroquel.

Clozapine? It's a last resort for psychosis because it requires bloodwork especially at the beginning, but low EPS rates and high efficacy.

Yeah. Clozaril worked great for my mood and psychosis. I just couldn't physically tolerate it. Had a VERY rare bad reaction to it, so I had to go off it.

Serious fluid retention, swelling, edema, respiratory problems... my just retired psychiatrist said he'd never seen anything like it, in all his years! It also made me drool. A LOT. Like, I had a DROOL towel at night. So we had to take me off that fast. Evil med for me. 😈 Not good, but mentally I felt fantastic (besides the fact my swelling was SO bad I could barely put my socks on!).

Seriously, it made me water balloon!!! Lol.

But that was a VERY VERY rare reaction, obviously an allergic reaction or something.

My tongue is dry and swollen. I took out my bite guard but it hasn’t helped. My lips are dry too.

Have you tried drinking water?

Do you have any chapstick?

I totally missed my first tdoc app this morning. My case manager had texted me the other day saying that they weren’t going to take my insurance until the fall so I forgot about he appointment until Tdoc called at ten after asking where I was. We rescheduled! And they do take my insurance!

I’ve been spending money like crazy this month! To the point of I won’t be able to pay off my credit card in full this month. I have been going out to eat almost every day! My mom already took away one of my credit cards months ago!

The friend that I talk to every day commented today that he’s worried about my credit card spending. I’ve spent one third of my income on my card this month:
