Nope, haven't gone anywhere - might plan a trip to Los Angeles next year though. : )

Have you felt worse bipolar symptoms in the summer rather than the other seasons?

This year, yes, since I had a manic episode last month, and usually I make it to late Nov./early Dec. without manic symptoms...BUT I have really bad depression, suicidal ideation dozens of times daily in the spring, and the SI was much worse than the mania, so spring would have to be my absolute worst so far this year.

If you have sleep difficulties, have you always had trouble with your sleep since you were a kid?

I think I was okay sleeping when it was...well...okay to sleep. It was pretty loud in the house though and sometimes people got a little rowdy. I'm really sensitive to noise and get scared easily so if I heard footsteps or things/people falling I'd have a hard time.

If you could master any instrument immediately, which would it be and what kind of music would you mainly play with it?

The Armonica and I’d play Professor Child’s collections of English ballads and nirvana songs.

Same question

The piano. I've always wanted to play the piano! I tried to teach myself but landed up giving my piano away as I didn't really progress and it was just taking up space.

Are you a sweet or savoury person?

No, I didn't watch the Olympics this year, but when I've watched it in the past, I've enjoyed gymnastics and swimming and in the winter figure skating.

Have you ever traveled outside of the country? If so, where to?

Read, watch reels on facebook, come here. I like to sew but it's hard to do in my very small house.

Is therapy or medication more helpful to you?

Therapy was more useful to me. Medication was actually harmful in the early years. But now that I know no ad and no benzos it’s the more beneficial of the two. I no longer do therapy.

Good question, same Q

I am a big advocate for therapy, so I choose that. If I had gone to a psychologist, (can't prescribe medication), instead of a psychiatrist all those years ago when I was struggling, I may not have found myself in this mess I've been in the past 24 years. Really something that bothers me to this day.

Q: Do you consciously think of being bipolar? Like does being bipolar bother you in the day to day, and do you obsess or think about it often?

I do, but I wouldn't say obsessively. I guess it depends on how much thought I feel like is required. Like, if I'm having one of those appointments you're supposed to summarize your symptoms for the whole since your last appointment period, then yeah, it's on my mind a lot. I probably think of it least when I'm having my most severe symptoms though, funnily

I think about it often during episodes. Like now. I’m depressed af and keep telling myself it’s the bipolar talking. Wish I was stable. Seeing my pdoc soon and hoping he can help me out. I’m feeling rather treatment resistant at the moment. Think we’ve tried almost everything AD there is. It’s not working.

How often do you currently see your pdoc?

About every 4 weeks. I seem to typically have at least some email contact between sessions as well.

Does the heat interact with your meds?

Yes. I am so glad that it has cooled off, at least for now. I'm actually cold today.

Are you still friends with anyone you grew up with?

A:Well, I planted some flowers on my porch this year that open in the daylight, sleep at night, sometimes look so dead I consider throwing them out and then they recover. They really don't know what they need. They haven't even reacted to our many 90 degree plus days. I do not know their name though.

Q:How often do you get a good night of sleep, however you define that?

I think I average once a week to get a decent amount of sleep. But just recently I slept for 10 hours, that was marvelous and a rare rare occurrence.

I’m curious about others, same Q

A: I get decent sleep most nights using several PRNs if I have to. Every month or so I have a bad night when I either don't sleep or don't fall asleep until 6 or 7 AM.

Q: Can you take pills without water? How many?

A: I can take 9 pills without water. I don't recommend it but when I accidentally didn't have water the other night I did it and it wasn't really a problem.

Q: Have you had COVID?

I have never had COVID. I didn't even get COVID when both my daughter & husband were sick with it. We all were vaccinated, but it is strange that I never got sick.

Have you ever broken a bone? If so, what bone(s) did you break?

Maybe. I was in judo class and I got foot swept by the head sensei and I think that broke my toe next to my big toe. It hurt a lot. We buddy taped it and I never went to the doctor.

I’ve never broken a bone. I chipped my thumb tho when I slammed it in a car door. I nearly passed out from the pain. But there was nothing they could do about it.. it was fine.

A: I broke my fibula when a girl pushed me in a cross country meet and caused me to fall. I also broke a toe on vacation when I walked into a hearth with bare feet.

Q: What is your earliest memory or the earliest one you care to share?

Sitting on the floor in my grandmother's kitchen banging on metal pots and pans with a wooden spoon while she was at the stove cooking. I must have been 3 or so? My grandma would always pull out her unused pots & pans and give my sister & me spoons to drum on them while she was cooking. She had to have had the patience of a saint to put up with all that racket while she was cooking. I stayed at my grandparents house a lot with my sister before I started school. I absolutely loved it!
