Just joined an hour long zoom meeting about psychosis. Only my therapist me and two others there but it seemed to go well.

My mom thinks I shouldn't be on any psych meds. And she thinks I've been misdiagnosed for the last 20 years. I’m missing half my gut since 2 days old and therefor get worse med reactions from meds than most people- such as the tardiv dyskinesia and stiff muscles I got from invega a couple months ago.

When I go off meds bad things happen. But my experience with Invega scares me that it could happen with Vraylar too.

@Moose72 I am sorry your mom is making a medical assessment of what your treatment plan as far as meds go. That must put you in a difficult situation.

Can your mom give any specific side effect that she sees that she thinks is unfavorable. If you want to try something different and she can tell you some reasonable symptom that results from taking meds, then you could go to the prescriber and share what mom said and ask them if there are other meds that do not have that side effect.

Do you live with your mom? That would make her comments painful to hear if you fear going off meds.

My friend does not like pills but they keep them stable. Going off those without professional advice has had results for her like usually going inpatient.

She was with me when I had the tardiv dyskinesia for a week from Invega and saw me with stiff muscles. That episode was no joke! It could happen again with the Vraylar.
