I took Gabapentin for a bit. In my case it was a last ditch effort to try to work with my anxiety-- it didn't do anything for me, good or bad in that regard. I didn't feel any difference.

Well it’s working for anxiety and to get me to sleep. Just waking up early is the problem.

Ingesting food before bed, so the blood sugar is normal to high, and then your blood sugar goes way down and your body then puts cortisol into the bloodstream in order to then raise blood sugar, and that wakes you up. Oh... and as long as there is cortisol in your system there is no possibility of sleep.

This is what my friend told me. No cereal before bed.

Didn’t have cereal and still woke up at 4 a.m. and couldn’t get back to sleep. I did take an hour nap around 11 a.m.

I have shyt sleep too. Never get more than four hours, even with Seroquel before bed. It sucks. I feel your pain!

I had a nap for 2 hours and then had a mocha cookie crumble frappe from Starbucks! I’ll be up late I’m sure! 😩

Gabapentin was originally used as an anti seizure medication. It is one of the 5 most prescribed medications in the US, probably because it has an anti-anxiety component.

Yes, when I followed the low-carb way of eating, I'd sleep through the night and wake up groggy. If I have a vegetarian (higher carb) meal at night, and/or have a sugary snack before bedtime, I'll wake up 3:30, 4:30.

That quoted message looks like something I wrote, except for the last sentence.

Well here I am again! It’s about 3:45. And I’m up with the cat but I had chicken legs for dinner not carbs. Interesting because I know my friend texted me that not you.

My Pdoc is using it as a mood stabilizer and antipsychotic.

This is sort of obvious but my case manager is out of the office the rest of the week….

Vraylar and gabapentin are bad to take if you sit in a hot tub right?

Caleb looked it up and gabapentin can make your heart stop if you’re on it and you sit in a hot tub.

My ex-behavioral pharmacologist friend said “stop reading the internet “.

No psychiatrist ever told me that. I take 3200mg of gabby daily. That's serious! You'd think I'd have been warned by now if my heart would stop if I took a hot bath.

I've sat in hot tubs before and my heart didn't stop.

Caleb said he read “fatal arrhythmia “ not heart attack but my friend who helped develop gabapentin said “stop reading the internet”.

I was originally put on Gabapentin for nerve pain. My psych increased it for my anxiety. It helped some but not a lot. I had back surgery back in April and due to severe nerve pain I was moved up to the highest dose, 900mg 3 times a day. To say the least, at that point my anxiety was non-existent. I have been on the max dose of buspirone for quite some time. The gabapentin wasn't doing much for the pain and the neurosurgeon took me off and put me on progabulin. Anxiety became almost constant. My humming was back and never stopped and I was constantly rubbing. Now I am back on Gabapentin per Psych, along with the progabulin. The psych said tiredness could be an issue. I am resistant to meds making me sleepy...so far seroquel is the only thing that has helped with sleep. Still dealing with anxiety but it has took a step back a little. My ticks, above, have lessened.
