Since a lot of us struggle with our weights because of bipolar meds I thought it would be great to start a weight loss journey thread!

I'll start:

My journey just started. My current weight loss goal is fifteen pounds. I blame 400mg of seroquel on my weight gain. Current meds that are supposed to help with my weight are metformin and topamax, though I don't think either are working very well.

My diet is mostly vegan/vegetarian.

For breakfast I just had a cheese stick, an apple, a banana, and a fourth cup of walnuts.

I'm trying to lose weight as well. I've gained a lot since my abilify and thorazine were increased. I have a problem with eating too many sweets so I'm trying to cut them out cause when they're around I just end up bingeing on them.

For breakfast today I had oatmeal, lunch is probably gonna be some chicken pasta I made with peas on the side. Dinner I'm not sure yet, maybe instant ramen, yes I know instant ramen is not exactly the healthiest but it's what I have in the house at the moment I need to go grocery shopping on Saturday. Snack will be plain Greek yogurt and some almonds. I need to probably cook up some sweet potatoes I have for tomorrows dinner.

Yum! I love sweet potatoes!

I have a problem with binging on sweets too when they're around, which is why they're rarely around. We did buy a shyt ton of Halloween candy last night for tonight though. 🌙 Lord help me! There goes my diet.

My husband was like, "So... are you going to have fun eating candy tonight?" And my response was, "Yeah. I'll have a lot of fun getting fatter!" He said back, "So we'll get fat together."

Lol.

We had to buy candy. It's the first year our daughter is too old for us to take her out trick or treating, and none of her friends wanted to go. And besides that, it's supposed to rain all day.

Lunch for me is probably going to be pita and hummus dip at the coffee shop when I go there with my therapist.

And dinner will most likely be chili.

Snack will be grape tomatoes and cucumber slices.

I’m gonna try something new, eating breakfast. But I haven’t started yet. So today I had my usual chai latte, using oat milk.

I need to go shopping

I’m trying to lose weight. I have no idea which med caused me to put on so much weight. I’m on abilify lithium and Effexor.

I’m taking Contrave prescribed by my gp for weight loss.

I bought a scale 2 days ago. So far I have lost a LITTLE bit of weight but you wouldn’t write home about it unfortunately!

I wonder why my gp wouldn't prescribe me contrave.... I'm on seroquel, loxapine, gabapentin, diazepam, sertraline, Lamictal, propranolol, and metformin and topamax as my "weight loss" drugs that aren't doing anything.

Whatever. I guess it doesn't matter. My insurance wouldn't cover it anyway I suppose. Boo.

I hope it works for you!

My steroid is making me unbearably hungry. But the wheezing post nasal drip cough is scary and a lot more stressful. So I'd rather deal with ths hunger for 3 more days.

I don't know if it was in Noom or some therapy session I had but when the day doesn't go right you just have to start over and try again tomorrow.

I'm joining because I've been trying to lose weight (and have lost 25 lbs net) over the last 18 months. Right now I'm kind of limited to just trying to stick to my calorie count because I'm mentally not able to do a lot more. I'm trying to get it together to join the Y but logistics are hard. I need a sports bra that has to be ordered and the first one I ordered didn't fit so I have to try again. I also need some tshirts that fit comfortably for working out. I tried goodwill but they were blaring music and I only lasted 5 minutes in there. I'll try again next week when I'm in the city again.

For now I'm more of a follower than a participant.

It’s not covered by PBS in Australia and my gp said it will cost me about $100 a pack so it’s expensive!

I went to a café by the beach and ate a smoked salmon salad as I felt it was the healthiest option. But the portion size was quite big. A lot of lettuce and tomatoes and I ate nearly the whole thing. Now I’m wondering if I should eat dinner or if the salad should count as lunch and dinner

I had plain oatmeal and some plain Greek yogurt for breakfast. Lunch will be ramen. Dinner will be a chicken thing with some gravy. Tomorrow I’m finally going grocery shopping. I’m just about out of everything. I found a YouTube video with healthy meals on a budget. That’s what I based my grocery list off of. So I’m gonna follow those recipes and see how that goes. It’s like $25 worth of stuff and makes like 7 whole meals with lots of servings for each meal.
