Hi everyone!

I just signed up to this board and I'm very excited about finding it. After reading some of the posts, I've discovered that this is a warm and supportive community.

Just a little about myself:

I was diagnosed as bipolar II in 2000, having been previously diagnosed as major depressive with generalized anxiety disorder.

I have been hospitalized twice and am currently seeing a pdoc and a T. My current mood is depression. I tend to be more depressed than manic.

I'm really more a "listener" than a "talker" but I will try to make as many contributions as I can.

I have taken many different meds but due to my memory, concentration and comprehension problems I cannot remember many things about how they affected me.

The meds I am taking now have helped me more than any I have ever taken, but the anxiety and depression is still breaking through. I see my pdoc on Monday.

Anyhoo, that's a little about me. I hope to get to learn more about you all and learn how to better deal with BP.

Pam

Welcome droopy55! And I like your avatar very much!!! I'm not bipolar, but stopped in to say hello. Yes, this site is pretty good. I also have major depression, so I understand that (can't control it, just understand.)

Thanks for the welcome, SkyBdark!

I found my avatar in an email I got quite a while back. I liked it and saved it. I'm glad I did and I'm glad you like it, too!

I have two dogs: one is a Shih Tzu/Terrier mix; the other is a full blooded Miniature Schnauzer. They're my "babies." I have no children.

Do you take meds for your Major Depression? I'm taking four different meds for my Bipolar.

Thanks again for your warm hello. Please write often and let me know how you are doing.

Hi Leslie,

It's so good to hear from you!

Although it's not pleasant being bipolar, it's good to know there are people like you that understand and are supportive.

Reading many of the posts, I find this to be true of everyone in this community. I hope to make many friends.

I'd love to join the chat but I'm a little chat challenged. LOL!!! I don't know all the shortcuts and I take so long to type out my answers. Just Signed Up! But I will try it. Maybe I will get the hang of it.

Thanks for replying,
Pam

Hi droopy, reminds me of the plastic dogs for donations to shelters. My son is bipolar 2 and I don't know how much is depression vs. mania. His hypomania gets him into trouble at times. Welcome.

Hi wisewoman,

The graphic certainly does doesn't it. I forgot where I found the graphic, probably in an email; but I fell in love with it!

I'm sorry about your son having BP2. Not only is it hard on him, it must be really hard for you. How old is he? Is he on meds? It took me and several pdocs to find the right combo for me. I still have some difficulty. Lithium is what has helped me most.

Thanks for welcoming me into the community!
