Hi i am actually not here for myself, but actually for my dad who i believe is suffering from bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder runs in my family, my grandfather (dad's dad), and several cousins all have been diagnosed with the disorder. My dad has all the classic symptoms of bp and yet he will not seek help. I guess my question for anyone out there is how do i get him help if he is unwilling to see that he has a problem?! I am desperate my family is on the verge of falling apart because my dad is very unstable. He is like a ticking time bomb and I my family can not function like this anymore. Should i go talk to a physician? I really am at my wits end and any suggestion that anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much

welcome to pc, slinky! sounds like the family needs some help and your dad too. yes, i think contacting a physician or pdoc, psychiatrist, would be good to discuss this matter with them and see if they can offer some suggestions of how to convince your dad to get help. your dad can refuse of course but it's worth a try to get some stability in the family and for him. keep us posted.
