I've read information about it and I've taken the tests, but I haven't been dignosed with it by a doctor.
I want to go see a doctor but my family doesn't have insurence at the moment and my parents never listen to me when I tell them about my mental problems. I think I have it, and the tests say i have severe bi-polar disorder. Last year I was depressed for months, and then suddenly it faded and everything seemed slightly better. Now suddenly it's come back and everything seems harder and confusing to me. I've been dealing with a lot of stress lately because of school, I'm young but I don't joke around about these things. All of this stress seems to have triggered me even more. My emotions have no warnings and I go in and out of depression a lot. ![]() |

I'm not sure if you are asking if you are bi-polar or if you are mentally ill?
It doesn't really matter what it is called. What matters is that you are distressed and that these symptoms are severe, that it is painful and affecting your life. That is what you are saying, right? That's what you need to tell your parents. Tell them that you need help and that it is your life you’re talking about--as in life and death. Even if you are not imminently suicidal, depression and manic moods both can turn into that--easily. You are also very impulsive when you are in both extreme moods and could die from engaging in risky or reckless activities as well. Mental illness is serious. Just like physical illness. It's not just a touchy feely thing that's not real. It could, can and does cause death. I am not being dramatic. There are statistics that can back me up. Mental illnesses, especially the symptoms you must have if your test scores are coming up indicating severe bipolar disorder, KILL. You just wrote that you have those test scores. You need to take care of this. There are ways around not having medical insurance. PM me if you'd like to peruse it and I'll help you out. Don't let that stop you. If you had a life threatening physical illness you would and especially your parents would make sure you got treatment for it. They love you and don’t want to lose you. And I can’t imagine they want you in pain. And I can’t imagine that they don’t want you to have the best future possible. You can have a good, productive future with a mental illness if you get treatment for it and learn how to manage it. You simply can’t if it goes untreated. You just simply can’t. And this type of illness is biochemical. It’s not there because you were abused or neglected or had a traumatic experience. Those things can make it worse, of course. But you can have a normal, loving childhood and still be bipolar. Print this out and give it to your parents if it’ll help. |
