Have been through hell over last 2 years because of my stinking thyroid!
![]() The problems are that recurring thyroiditis is rare and consultants are reluctant to remove my thyroid despite positive scans and bloods because thyroiditis (not recurring) should be a temporary condition. Anyone else had a similar experience? Desperatly seeking a thyroidectomy! stopping lithium has been deemed not an option. |

Hi there,
Yes, you are in a bad situation........and the symptoms of thyroiditis are horrendous. I have had thyroid problems for last 3 years and was put on lithium in 2007. I had a goiter a couple of years ago and it has gotten worse. I have been to see a surgeon and I am seeing an Endo at the end of this month. I am on thyroxine but I do not know if I am hypothyroid yet. It sounds like you have tried to do alot for your situation.........and "normal" blood results are not necessarily a given as I am sure you know. Some of mine are also in range but this is the sickest I have ever been in my life. I really feel for you.........I do not have any real answers as there is so much you need to consider. I am a member of a really good thyroid forum and some of the women on there have had thyroidectomies and are really knowledgeable........I recommend you join http://thyroidhost.proboards30.com/index.cgi Good luck sweetie, please feel free to msg me if you want to talk further...... ![]()
