Hello everyone,

I am hypo-manic most of the time, and I get so wound up that it shifts
into panic-mode, or fear. Does anybody else have this, and if so, what do you do about it?

I tried calling my pdoc, but couldnīt reach him. Is it controlled with medication? Iīm still shaking.

Sometimes I think I am agorophobic.

Thanks,
nirmal

Panic attacks can be treated with various medications. From my understanding, sometimes hypomania can include anxiety symptoms, so you may want to look at controlling that.

Are you familiar with mindfulness? You might Google on it and get a quick intro. Try searching on "counting meditation" as well, which I've always found useful for getting racing thoughts and anxiety under control. I have agoraphobia and generalized anxiety/panic disorder along with BP II, so I know that feeling . I'm not anti-meds, but I prefer to keep my cocktail down to the essentials as much as possible and work on the things I can on my own -- anxiety/panic is something I can control with some effort, but I do have Ativan on hand when necessary. Just knowing it's there helps at times.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I am familiar with mindfulness and have practiced meditation using a mantra. But I am now convinced that this fear thing is actually mania. I used to, a long time ago, do amphetamines, and this feels exactly like that. I just spin out of control, and mindfulness and
meditation just fly out the window. My doctor just doubled my seroquel and I am already feeling better.

When I stabilise I will consciously try to practice mindfullness and a simple
meditation using breathing techniques.

Thanks again,
nirmal
