I think I may have started too many books at once, now I'm getting overwhelmed, I'm reading 3, might cut it down to just one for now

Book Re: What book(s) are you currently reading #3

I'm trying to get caught up on 44 Scotland Street now that it's much cooler. When it was so hot I just read a few page at bedtime, not a chapter.

Really enjoying it but want to finish it by next week so I can read the next one, or go back to his other series---either about Isabel or Precious.

I just finished "Schopenhauer's Porcupines", 5 tales of psychotherapy, really good book.
Now I'm not sure: Either "The Invention of the Jewish People" or "The Fifty-Minute Hour".

I have 2 books open at the moment, the 2nd B. Bryson; Notes From A Big County. I just need his quirky humour to cheer me up every so often.

Iím still struggling with Blackout. Iím not sleeping well and my eyes get tired easily. Itís a good book but a bit on the heavy side. Reminds me of the German film, M. It is set in Germany at the very beginning of WW2.

Finally finished the Testaments by Margaret Atwood, sequel to Handmaidís Tale. It was a good read, and an interesting conclusion to HT, although I did prefer the first.

Has anyone read any others by Atwood?

I havenít read anything else by her except Handmaidís Tale. Interesting the sequel concludes that sagaÖ..I want to read it but given the climate over Roe Iíd find it too scary. What book(s) are you currently reading #3

As for my cozies, Iím thinking of alternating between 44 Scotland Street, Isabel Dalhousie, and No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency. I enjoy them all but there are so many books in all of them that itís dauntingÖ.

I wonít give the ending of the Testaments away Owl but it was (to me) less frightening than HT, I thought there was more humour in it too although I might have just picked up on it more.

I've been reading a lot, but it's harder for me as I recuperate from cataract surgery. My other eye needs cataract surgery, too. I read Alexander McCall Smith's latest #1 Detective book. It's called A Song of Comfortable Chairs and features Mma Makutsi, the secretary/assistant. I liked it.

I'm now reading an interesting book called The Apocalypse Seven by Gene Doucette. Young folks wake up to a world where very few people are around and the places they live are much aged, with wild animals all over the place. Gradually they learn what has happened--so it's like an intriguing mystery and I'm looking forward to getting back to reading it.

I listened to an audiobook of hers recently I think. Another dystopian future, but this time I think humans had evolved not to have free will.

I'm currently listening to How to Find a Princess by Alyssa Cole, a fantasy about a lost princess who ends up falling in love with the female detective sent to find her.

Did you read his other book, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F***? What book(s) are you currently reading #3 Seriously thatís the real name. The f word is not spelled out on the cover but it is in the libraryís database lol. Not that itís needed. What book(s) are you currently reading #3

You might like The Mirror Visitor series by Christelle Dabos. Itís YA fantasy and was translated from French. There are clans in it that seem to be technically human, as itís never said they are fey or vampires for example.

But they have supernatural or magical abilities even if not actually supernatural themselves. Thereís one called The Mirages. You donít just see their mirages but smell and hear them. Like they can create a mirage of the ocean, including the sound of waves and scent of ocean air! Iím on book two. The books are enormous!

Nam, thanks for mentioning the 44 Scotland Street series. What colorful characters! Though not mysteries they are a ďslice of lifeĒ, light reading with humor at times. I like the illustrations too. The interaction between them and their lives is great.

Iím starting the second book later next week, Espresso Tales. I like the title. What book(s) are you currently reading #3
