but I'm not sure.
I am afraid of receiving a diagnosis that is incorrect, by the therapist that I'm going to see on Wednesday. On the (very short) phone consultation, she tried to say that my symptoms sounded like BP2. Yet I never have mania or hypomania episodes, though. I'm scared. Any advice would help ![]() |

I understand many fears around seeing a new therapist and diagnosis.
Often the diagnosis is more for insurance purposes (so the therapist can be reimbursed). It may take the therapist some time and a few sessions to arrive at a diagnosis. This is your treatment and I hope you will share that you thing BPD fits you so you and the therapist can talk about it. I found it easier to say that than to try to describe my inner turmoil that I experience, although I did also do that. I think your therapist will be very glad to hear your ideas about what you are experiencing and that you think maybe it is BPD rather than BP2. |

((((((((sun flower)))))))))))) I agree with Echoes. I think any good therapist will appreciate you voiceing your opinion on your diagnosis. They should be willing to discuss it in great detail and overall give a diagnoiss that makes sense. Take care and give you therapist a chance to help you.

Great advice from Echoes and trying, dont be afraid of the diagnosis, it is just a label, the important thing is you get the right treatment and remember therapy to work effectively takes two people so voice your concerns and explain how you feel, only then will you relax and see the possibilties that are open to you to recover.

I was diagnosed as borderline personality and what i have to tell you is don't diagnose yourself, that is the worst thing you could do. I know your scared to go see a doctor for the diagnosed but if you do have it its important for you to go to the doctor to get medication to help treat borderline. Well i wish you good luck

From what I've read the standard for treating borderline is talk therapy, not meds. Let the therapist do the diagnosising, so many of us try to self dx and we don't see ourselves in the same way others with the education to know see us.
