OMG!!!!!!!

I CANNOT believe the conversation I just had with my friend's Case Manager!

Per her recommendation, Mental Health isn't going to waste any resources on a manipulative liar when there are people who are really sick who need help. If he'd just stop drinking, he wouldn't have any problems.

We've worked for over 2 years to finally get him help & now this?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Even if he were a manipulative liar, those people need help too. Being a manipulative liar IS in itself a mental health issue. Does this Case Manager not know your friend has a drinking problem? Either way, this Case Manager is not right for your friend. He doesn't deserve to have someone IN the mental health industry speak so negatively of him. I hope you can find him another Case Manager. Did you complain to the agency about her remark?, because that is NOT right! This woman at least deserves a complaint with her boss. These people are supposed to be helping people, not making them feel worse.

That's shocking and I hope your friend can see someone else, because this case manager clearly hasn't got a clue..
I hope your friend hasn't been very negatively effected by the remarks. x

That is unbelievable! No wonder so many people are afraid to get help. There should definitely be a complaint filed against someone who sounds like she just doesn't want to deal with difficult issues.

I was really mad at first & scared because everything has to be approved by her first & it looked like he'd never get any help.

She didn't even know or care that he's been in jail over a month. That is why we were trying to get help so no one would be hurt & he wouldn't have to go back.

God is good & much wiser than I. I've gotten him into a program at the jail that is exactly what he needed & has been asking for.

So what SHE thinks, doesn't matter!

I wasn't going to give up on him the way everyone else always had.
It hurts just to see him every few days for a few minutes with a glass wall between us.

But he looks better than I've ever seen him. He's grateful & happy, making friends & healing.

It's giving me time to pick up the pieces of my life, too, as I learn how to heal also.

Thank God for you. Your friend is so lucky to have you. So many people just give up on people when they go to jail. My husband has been in jail for four years. For two years first, then he was in a half-way house for two months, then he went back to jail. I haven't seen him for two years, because he is so far away and we have no transportation. But I write him all the time and we get to talk on the phone every so often. It's $4 for 15 minutes. Anyway, the rest of his family won't even try. His brother, whom he was so close to hasn't wrote him back or answered the phone for a year now. And their going to want to hang out when he gets out, and he'll forgive him for losing touch....It makes me angry, because I've been here for him this whole time, not like I wouldn't have though and he's been a huge support to me too. I'm glad your friend has you and you have him.

Just a little story of success.... My husband is an ex meth addict. If he hadn't gone to jail, he probably would have died from it. He overdosed so many times and almost had his arm amputated, because he was using a needle. It's so hard to go through my own struggles on my own and for him to be gone, but it is what was best for him, and what was best for our relationship. I have to be thankful, because I probably would have lost him completely if he had continued on the road he was on. To lose him for just a few years, it's worth it to know he'll never go back to that drug, and to know I won't have to worry about losing him to it, not to mention dealing with him high, ugh....

Thank you for sharing your success story with me. I commend you for seeing the blessing within the hardship.

My friend also self-medicated for the pain inside & out. Between all the alcohol, all the other drugs he used & his illness, he was a walking time bomb. It was just by God's Grace no one ended up dead. It was close several times.

Now that he's clean & sober, they could stabilize his meds. His sensitive & caring soul shines clearer. Others are starting to appreciate him & think maybe they won't write him off just yet.

With all the recent breakthroughs in brain imaging, researchers can measure the differences between the normal controls & those with ADD, BPD, BiP, etc. There are chemical causes of those dysfunctional behaviors.

Maybe someday soon that toxic case manager will learn to stop blaming my friend & others like him for being & acting mentally ill. Maybe she'll learn to have some compassion for those who struggle & fail & try again.

As a Japanese proverb says,

"Fall down seven times, get up eight!!!"
