Hi, I guess this is an intro to this forum, since I've never been here. So hello! I am currently in hospital and my doctors think I could very well be borderline. I have done some brief research and many symptoms of BPD sound just like me.

I have heard that this diagnosis carries stigma, however, I'm not sure exactly WHAT stigma. Can someone fill me in? Are people with BPD known as difficult people to be around?

Also, any info as to what BPD is and what it's like would be very helpful. I know I'm suicidal, SI, have created different "parts" of myself to cope (similar to DID, but not quite), and my mood can dip to depression suddenly, and then go to feeling "OK", and occasionally to hyperness.

I guess that's all for now. I'm glad to be here.

(((ohseedee))) - sorry to hear you're in the hospital. Good to know you're safe though. You should be able to find some good info if you click on 'conditions and disorders' at the top of the page. Try not to get to ahead of yourself with the diagnosis, so you don't get more upset.

"Are people with BPD known as difficult people to be around?" - I think this refers to family/friends have difficulty with the extreme sensitivity perhaps.

I hope you feel better very soon - best of luck.

Hi and welcome to this forum. I'm sorry to hear that you are in the hospital but if you are suicidal you are in the right place.

I'm not going to sugar coat my responses b/c you sound like you really want to know what BPD is all about. I can only tell you from my experience.

BPD does carry a stigma to those that do not understand it. We can live a very normal life with a good T and the right meds until we become better at coping. Sometimes we can be difficult to be around.

http://www.borderlinepersonalitysupport.com/ This is a website that has really help me. Tami Green is a BPD survivor. She tells it like it is. Her books are great if you can buy them. There are many other books and information on the web and here at PC. You might want to look up Cognitive Distortions. These are many qualites that BPD'ers can have. You can also find ways to overcome these on the web. Also a therapist that specializes in DBT (type of therapy for BPD people) is even better. CBT therapist may work to, that is what I started with then we started working DBT into it and I am still with the same therapist.

I hope this helps to get you started. Take care of yourself and PM anytime if you want to talk more about it or just need someone to listen and be there.
Thanks for this!

Thanks for posting guys.
I took a psychological evaluation today, the psychologist said results should be in either Friday or Monday. Hopefully we'll be able to find out what issues I have that need treatment, and whether or not I have BPD...or anything else, for that matter.
