It is pretty sad when I have been told by a hand full of "friends" and my brother, my boyfriend's sister, and my boyfriend-- that I could probably sell my bears that I make-- but yet I have such doubt in myself, I guess my talent that I doubt that any will sell....

I have hear recently decided to try it-- but even as I am making my first bear I am wondering how many to make, I think 5- this way if they don't sell I just have 5 to give to some special people in life and not 12.. though if they do start to sell 12 would be a good thing to start with....

I am not sure if this makes sense-- I am sorry if it is a bit rambling, It is the fear of failing-- it is the fear of not being good enough-

The sad part is, I decide to go head "give this a try!" and I have to get confirmation again from others (like my boyfriend a few hours ago and probably a few days ago) that this is perhaps a good idea...

My boyfriend told me, don't worry right now if they don't sell... make the bears right now is to focus on

I am lucky to have him, for me he is that rock I need... that reassurance, my T says he is the "wall that I bounce things off of to get assurance" though self assurance I need to work on.....

IDK i just find it sad in a way-- I don't have it in me to be confident-- perhaps this goes in another area besides BPD... but I think it links to it (not sure- I am not doc after all)

Make as many as your comfortable making, I agree with your boyfriend, don't stress if they don't sell right away. Are these bears something you could sell on etsy.com?

Maybe making an account and posting a few to see the response you get, will help squash your fear?

I'd love to see some of these bears, they sound wonderful.
Thanks for this!

Ashleigh28- yeah; I stumbled upon that site, and got to thinking more on trying to make and sell some of the bears I make-- I tried to sell one on ebay which got a lot of looks but no one bought it- I thought maybe try the etsy.com due to it is more hand made.

There are a lot of good crafters out there It was nice to see a site like that-
I am always afraid to post albums of my real pictures on here- I get afraid of being "figured out" :-/ but to be honest, most people that I work with directly already know I have a mood disorder due to they have been in the line of fire of my stuff- LOL? maybe one day-

Dubblemonkey-- I wish others could ramble as i could-- I do, cuz I know some have difficultly with just putting down how they feel (I have that some times, but I have found if even staring with non sense words or a picture- i can usually with in time- get it out).....

Hey Beauflow,

Just make as many bears as you want to and just be sure not to underprice them in terms of shipping costs (use actual plus a few dollars), materials, and your time etc. That way if they really take off and become popular, you don't end up losing money making them. See what others are charging for similar bears. I think this is a grand idea, because you can make them for now how you want to and as you want to. That website is an excellent outlet for you to use. You are only committed for now to selling as many bears as you want to make or have made. Don't take any more orders for unmade bears than you are truly comfortable with so that you don't put undo pressure on yourself. Maybe even wait and make the 12 bears and see how they sell and which ones are popular as you are working..just remember that AFTER the holidays they will probably sell more slowly unless you gear up for Valentine's Day or something like that.

You are obviously very talented for so many people to recommend for you to do this... I'll bet you put a lot of detail and love and care into your bears. Take your time and do it the way you want to and sell them for what they are really worth which is probably a pretty penny. Enjoy doing something you love and make a little money while you are doing it. It will be a great esteem booster in the process. Don't overthink it and just enjoy the learning process!!
Big Hugs for courage and fun!!

thank you all again for the encouragement with this--

I figured I would share the bear I just finished- I am not sure if this is worth selling, but I think I will give it to my oldest sister (if I ever get her new address )

But I thought I would share-- This is like my 12th bear that I have made since October 2010 about-- so a year or so with trying to make them as good as I can and still in progress with it all (so don't be too harsh lol I already think it looks odd lol) Oh and this is a very simple bear-- Next bear will have different colors

Although I am not an expert on this forum, I think this is a perfect place for your post.
I also wish to share that I am impressed with your signature quote: "There are some days I just want to get away from myself- really, but I can not get away from myself- I am stuck with me..... and only me am I truly stuck with through this life of mine."

That is how I feel every day. Thank you for letting me know that I am not alone in feeling this way.

Frowingdown thanks--

Yeah when i was growing my dad always said -- that everyone is only stuck with themselves Some days I take that in a good and other days bad ways.

Learning to like one self can be hard but can be done (at least that is partially my problem (lol) )

I think your bear is adorable. These would make perfect gifts for new born babies. Really cute.
