Nope. 18 or older. You're still developing, you're still hormonal, that's why they don't diagnose PD's in anyone under 18.

I know it's not hormones for sure.... I wasn't sure about BPD.... I was leaning more towards bipolar and schizophrenia....I know depression for sure....

Hi Kitty.. I'm 35 (almost) and wasn't dx until 2 years ago.. I knew from the age of 12 that my emotions and reactions were "abnormal".. do your research but don't dx yourself.. just concentrate on your symtoms (thats what the doctors will do anyway).. Maybe see your general doc and express your concerns but don't be shocked if they fall on deaf ears.. work on 'mindfullness'.. look it up, it will help a little.. (((HUGS))) I know teen years can really suck! (I have a 13 year old daughter and 14 year old son.. eekkk!)

It depends on the dr. My best friend was diagnosed at 15, went through DBT at 16.
My dr wouldn't even discuss bpd with me when i was a teen, so I was diagnosed bipolar. A lot of drs don't like to diagnose so young.

Quote:
You are still going through changes, whether you think you are or not. I'm not talking about your period, I'm talking about you, growing into a young adult. You are still young. BPD comes about when you are about the age you are now. You develop it into your adult years. You are not born with BPD.

Although they won't diagnose you until 18, I can tell you that I first noticed my problems when I was about your age. My entire personality changed virtually overnight. I went from popular and athletic to shy and an alcoholic in months. My temper was horrible, my self esteem was shot. All I know is I think some of it stems from genetics, as my entire Mother's side of the family has mental problems, and from family situations. I was abandoned first by my father at the age of 2, then my Stepdad who I viewed as my father at 9. I had an abusive older brother, way beyond the normal. i had bruises all over my body from him. I think this is when the behavior patterns began to change. I am also diagnosed with Bipolar so it's hard to tell the difference at times. Knowledge is power, so it's a good thing you are researching this now. Just be careful though, I have found when studying this stuff, which I did for years, it's easy to believe you have any disorder, simply because the symptoms fall into so many categories. So, don't self diagnose.
