Does anyone go to health spas or anything, with self harm scarring?

I really would like a nice deep massage and a nice health spa day, but my scar covered body stops me from doing so. It's shameful and embarrassing.

You have nothing to be ashamed of, I don't let my scars ruin what I wear,

If in the cold weather they seem more visible I use cover up or fake tan.

Don't be ashamed of your scars they are part of who you are. Or were.

Go treat yourself you deserve it. could do with one myself
Thanks for this!

My house is not a relaxing environment Couldn't exactly get someone to put a massage table in the middle of the front room, not enough room for one.

You are who you are, and should never be ashamed of things like scars! Besides it's their job to massage you not scrutinize every blemish and scar you might have on your body. Trust me, I'm sure they've seen plenty of what the world would call "less than perfect" bodies. I'm sure yours is just fine.

When I go to someone new for any treatment involving their seeing my scars, I say, before they see them, "I have some scars. I had a rough patch for awhile." They get the picture immediatly, and I have never had anyone react badly. In fact, to my recollection, they have only been kind and moved on.
Thanks for this!

That sounds like a good idea. Maybe I'll get some money together and find one around here that I can get to.
Thanks

I have scars covering my arms, legs, and stomach. I just got a massage last week. I was super nervous but I just said "I struggled with depression in the past and I have some scars from it" when she came in. She was very professional about it and didn't ask.

I would try to get the massage - it was so relaxing!

I've thought about this too as a coworker gave me a gift card to a spa for Christmas. In the past, I've just ignored them and no one asks. No talking, just relaxing....that's what you're there for, right?
