Hey all,

I must confess that I was not taking my meds for the past month and a half or two months. I started taking my meds again about two weeks ago. I feel so radically different. I know I've said in the past that I feel like meds don't do anything for me, but apparently they do.

I just wanted to post this so people can know the importance of staying on their meds.

I refuse meds, how do you know it's not your situation,?? Life changes that have made you better?

Are situations still the same and meds have improved them?

Not doubting you! I'm just curious as maybe this could help me

I'm with you on meds, but that only after realizing that although my meds did help certain symptoms of my disorder, there were drawbacks for me, like losing a lot of creativity and feeling quite unemotional. Yeah yeah, I know that's part of the problem of bpd, being emotional right? Well I am emotional and for me, I like my emotions and would rather learn to naturally control them than use meds to mask them temporarily - as it is, temporary.

@Fletch: don't get me wrong. I'm happy for you and glad that they are helping you. I know that it's a personal choice and it is indeed needed in lot's of people's cases so don't take this as a total attack on the medication approach! *hugs*
Thanks for this!

I was prescribed meds when I thought it was simply depression and anxiety, and during a recent breakdown I took them for a while because I was totally losing it, but I also prefer dealing with the emotions without meds, but that is strictly a personal preference. If the meds work, good for you! That's all that matters.

Honestly, my life situations are no better than they had been before. I am still barely scraping by financially. I am still having some conflict with my fiance. I am still feeling overwhelmed. I think the meds, however, have given me a little bit of a boost so I can deal with my problems in a more effective manner.

That's great there helping you, hopefully they will help improve the other areas..

My life situations have changed so I am happier and coping better, of course I still have horrible days.
And still early in to therapy, this Is why I feel I should try to cope for now with out meds.
Today I have hope things will be a okay for me.. I hope this continues

((Hugs))

....and that's all that matters. Do what works for you. When life does straighten up some, give it a short go without them just to see. We're affected a lot by what happens around us, and it's possible you'll be able to cope without them when that happens.
