Winter storm warning in my area. Now mind you, 2 -4" of snow isn't a bother normally, I've seen 18" of snow in other places I've lived but fact is, I didn't have to walk a half hour in it.

It's not snowing yet but clarly getting colder, is windy and raining. Let's just cap my day with a crown of omfgthissucks.

We hardly ever get much snow here, but lately it's been dropping an inch or so almost every day. You'd think if it absolutely HAD to snow, it would do it all at once, but no. It's bitterly cold most days too.

Would you rather have the snow or the cold?? Got down to -2 this morning! It snowed over a week ago and it's all still on the ground. I'm new to the area but I'm told by natives that while the current temperatures aren't considered abnormal, having them persist for almost 3 weeks is. We've been running 20-25 degrees below normal...and I'm from Florida where they are having severe above normal temps. Been 81 there.....sigh.

It has been snowing here in the UK tonight but where I live we have been very lucky as some parts of the UK have it very severe.

Ugh that really sucks. My area is under an advisory, it's windy and cold and all around miserable. I hate how such simple things can screw up a day so easily.

I'd rather have the snow! Subzero temperatures are normal around here, and I object.

We have 5 in here in VA. We are expecting 10 in before the wind picks up so the power can go off. I live in the mountains. One the power is out it ususlly goes off for a week. Yippiie!!

My dad, my brother in law and my H and who knows how many other folks are stranded. The only road up the mountain is blocked by cars that have slid into the way and all over the road. We only have about 6 more hours of snow to go. Once it stops the road can be cleaned and everyone can get home.

On the plus side, my H is parked near a restaurant, my dad is near the same restaurant. So they can have supper together. They serve alcohol though. So lets hope no one gets soused before the commute home.

Another plus if my H is hanging out in a resturant/bar w/ my dad at least he's not here bothering me. See snow can be a good thing.

I don't mind the snow, I don't mind the cold, I don't like the roads covered in snow and highway's impassable. What if I cut my arm off and need to go to the hosiptal. I'm toast. What if I'm stranded here for a week w/ 3 kids and my H. What if the power goes off double eeeekkk What if we can't get to the grocery store. We will wither away to nothing.

"Chicken little what if the sky is falling."

Well on a serious note, I don't like power outages, I need to go to the grocery store so we might be eating some weird things, and we live on top of a mountain so more then likely I'm in for the next 3 days. If we keep power yall might see me around PC whole bunches.

I panic in the dark by the way. Impending darkness or light in the room I'm in knowing there is darkness out side of that room freaks me out. Whoo Weee oh the fun.

That said my dear friends, as you bravely get through this crazy weather and snow, sending you lots of hugs and easy, peaceful days. Quiet, peaceful nights. Rose

I guess we got the same cold front you have. All I know is it dropped like 30 degrees last night. We were seeing temps of 80-85, which is a bit unusually for January, even for coastal SC. But if it threatens snow here, we roll up the sidewalks and call it a day. Close schools and businesses. We just can't handle it because we never get it. But I don't envy you walking a half hour in the snow. I would just like a little of it every now and then. Just enough to cover the ground and make snow people with. Oh, and to get off work too. So during the week. Not too much to ask, I don't think

Snowed a week ago...it's all still on the ground due to the temps. No snow but close to 100% humidity...have something called a Pogonip...and ice fog, every morning. It makes all the trees looked flocked...like a white Christmas tree.

Maranara Ice fog is beautiful. It makes the trees so shiny. It is not to much fun on your windshield though.

S4 - I got the power. Yeah electricity, 8 in of snow, but the roads are clear.

Maybe I would rather have snow. lol

It's been very cold here, I know, in other places, San Diego seems warmer, but I am a CA chicken. Sometimes it's down to 39 degrees! Brrrr.... !

No snow here, but a lot of cold, cold wind and sometimes rain.

That's what trees look like around here after an ice fog.
Beautiful, isn't it?

Providing you don't mind 0 degree weather..... darn old. Wet, but not snowy. Heard breathing it in for a while is a great way to get an extended vacation in ER. It is literally ice suspended in midair and it frosts everything as it comes down.

From what I understand, it's a weather phenomenon almost exclusive to the Northwest, but what do I know, I'm from Florida.

I know it's common in Alaska, Washington, Idaho and Oregon (every morning). Probably western Canada as well. Cases in Nevada, possibly northern California. Not sure about anywhere else.

Yeah the morning dew/moistness is common in the NW, I lived with it for 25 years. As far as I can tell though, becuase of the rain, the moistness, at least in Seattle and Portland it's possibly the cleanest air to breathe. I'm sure breathing cold air such as that is detrimental to your health if you do it too long anywhere though.

Here's a positive note about it though. Because the air is so clean, i became very symptom free as I got older with regards to my asthma. If you want proof of the cleanliness, when I first met my ex, she lived in B'more. When I first visited her, coming from Seattle, the very first night in MD I was in the ER myself due to the air quality and humidity change.

Between MD and Seattle, I'd choose Seattle without hesitation but between NC and WA, I love NC. some of the beauty of the NW, clean air, similar climate without as much rain. I love it here and am staying put.
